It's been almost a month since I got my Z. As you can see from the pictures, it's beautiful, but it was barley running. Well today I finished my punch list to get the car right. Here's what I found: 1. The car was only running on one carb. The floats in both carbs were slammed up against the covers. The piston in the rear carb had poor movement. Both carbs were removed, cleaned and adjusted to the correct spec. 2. The valve lash for the intake valves weren't even close to spec (cold). Four were at 0.003, one at 0.004 and one at 0.005. The valve lash for the exhaust were good; three were at 0.009 and the other three were at 0.010. Being that the intakes were so close toget…

North West Z is having a cruise this coming Saturday the 15th it's Armed Forces Day and we are going to the Coast, via some great back roads , fun with a Z. We are gathering in North Planes Oregon right off of Hwy 26 and the North Planes/Glenco exit at 9:00. Our destination for lunch is a great Pub on the Columbia River out on a the Pier. Driving time will be about 4 hrs plus what ever time it takes for pictures and comfort stops. We will end up on Old Cornelius Rd at a great pub that we can gather out on the Patio , weather permitting. Make it if you can. Gary:classic:

I decided to clean the spare tire and the spare tire well (yes, I really did - don't lie, I know you have too). I was looking at the spare and it occurred to me that the rim looked original. That's not that unusual. But then I started looking that the tire and I think this might original as well. What do you think?

My '75 280 didn't have wiper arms when I picked it up, but got a set off ebay. Now I want to get some new blades, but I notice that there are 70-76 and 77-78 and I don't know the difference or which I have. Is there an easy way to figure this? I do see that unlike most newer vehicles these arms don't terminate in a flat or u-shaped blade. Instead there is a perpendicular hole at the end of the arm, and a post in middle of the blade slides and locks in that hole. Will the 70-76 blades work for me? thanks, Geof

Did not know where to put or say this, but felt I needed to say it. Having been a Zed owner for over half of my life, and being in the process of rebuilding another 71 after the several year break from the wrench turning side of the hobby, I am proud and amazed at the level of high quality information available. My 71 (okay it will be for my 16 year old daughter) will be a slow methodical build. She won't be able to drive it for quite a while, as she has seizures (it's always kind of a bummer when you are told at that age that you have to be free of seizures for 2 years before they will consider driving). The good side of this situation is that she will be learning her …

There's someone that goes by ZandZXMan or maybe it's just ZXMan. He was in the NE part of the country a couple years ago then moved to Texas. I used to have his website bookmarked and now I can not find it for the life of me. I've searched this site as well as the web with no luck. Does anyone here have the URL?

My first 240 had a "feature" that I always thought was cool. I could remove the ignition key while the vehicle was running and it would still run. Yes, I could just pull the key straight out. I always found this useful if I needed to unlock the hatch or running in to a store on a cold day. The Z I have now doesn't allow this. It got me thinking; was my '71 ignition set just broken? If so, I liked it better broken.
