Hey guys, I live way over in Barbados in the Caribbean. Buddy and I are in love with the 240z soo much that were on the hunt for one here in Barbados but now the bad news are they are only two here that everyone know of. One a body work man has and he says he isn't selling it and the other I've heard the guy isn't selling either and it is rusted badly. So we've decided to purchase on from overseas and bring in to our shore. Anyone knows where is a good place to purchase a 240z in good condition? Can someone please post some links to some awesome 240z build threads? He wants to build one with a RB25 skyline meanwhile I would like to build one with a big block chevy V motor…

OK so if you read my last thread I mentioned I bought a z without a job and now work at wal-mart making what normal people make. With that said I took on a challenge, the Zs 40th anniversary which is in a couple of months and this thread is to help me get through it, and actually drive this $800 gem to Nashville for the big ole party. A little background story on how I got this jewel baby. When I was 16 I owned a white 71 240z, and as many of us were I was a dumbass and crushed the car. Yes CRUSHED a Z because I could not get it running and money was really tight and I thought that if I could get out of it at the crusher what I had in it I would be good. Then I started o…

I will be at a pick n pull next week that has a 1976 280z. I don't know if it's auto or manual. I have a 71 240z. What, if anything, should I consider pulling for my 71 (I am generally keeping it stock but would consider stealth upgrades - ones that are helpful to the experience but don't change the visuals much) - 5 speed (if so, what ancillary bits and pieces should I score?) - Seats (mine are pretty trashed, I'd prefer period correct but would consider other options, f they look right) - what else? Also: what is worth scoring for it's resale value? (accepting requests - prices will be very fair to those requesting in advance) Thanks, Mark

Well I have totalled up all the gift cards and cash for Christmas and I am coming up with a plan for the updgrades for the New Year. I am going to get rid of my overheating problems with a new radiator and fan clutch, upgrade the blower motor for more heat, and swap out the points for electronic ignition. I have a few more things to do but they are more involved, replace the sagging springs, redo the original steering wheel and install, and replace all the weather striping and rubber with the parts I gathered through last year. Then drive it a lot more. What are you plans for the Zed this year?

Hi all, I'm new here (yes I've seen the posts saying that I'm not supposed to admit that), and am going next week to look at a 1977 280z for sale in the area. I'm new to late 70's Z-cars, but am coming from the early 1990's Toyota MR2 crowd, so am not totally unfamiliar with the general challenges of 20+ year old cars. I've lurked in the forums for a while, but can anyone tell me (or point me to a thread) for a general checklist of typical problem areas to look for in this car when I go see it? It currently belongs to the father of a friend, so I dont know much about it other than the fact that it is for sale and has been in his garage for 15+ years. Thanks in advance f…

Inputs or comments on a fairlady z? One for sale up here, not completely stock as I would prefer, aftermarket wheels, seats, whale tail added. 82000 miles. a daily driver. Many upgrades, electrical upgraded, new fuelpump, nissan disc brake upgrade in the back, suspension powdercoated. fuel injected. restored 15yrs ago and babied ever since. a GT model...never seen that? Seller lost his job and needs the cash....(big layoffs with a major employer up here so I beleive him) so not a car for the enthusiast who likes 'orignal' but very nicely put together...any input? comments? concerns? He's asking about $10k canadian....seems like a lot of $$?

So far, I have found the following problems caused by the previous owner of this 280Z: - completely wrong timing - AFM ground wire left disconnected - AFM mounting plate left unattached - wires from battery to coil not tightened on coil - all clamps on brake boost hoses left untightened I'm sure I'll be adding to this list.

I found this link while killing time on craigslist http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/1653661113.html It "looks" original enough but it has an automatic. I hadn't heard of any with automatics but..... FYI-I have nothing to do with this car but the interest in the discussion it may generate

For those of you who are interested, I found a place in New York that does Plastic Rechroming. Not the Spray Metalization crap either, but the real deal. You can find them on the web at www.4chrome.com. They charge approximately $5/sq inch. which sounds hefty, but with little alternative....what cha going to do?? After spending $$$ on my Z, I just couldn't do the Chrome Paint or Spray Metalization - So I just do a little at a time...which isnt so bad.
