So spring is here, I have more money, and I'm looking for a 280z now. My ceiling is $3000 for the initial purchase and I'm wondering what to expect in that price range. I was planning on buying one around April-May (once I've got a bit more cash) but a $1500 car caught my eye on craigslist and I figured, hey, I can afford that right now. So I got to wondering if I could actually buy a decent car for that. Still waiting on details from the seller, but is it even possible to get a car that runs and drives decently for that?

I've just moved the thread from the HELP!!!! section because I figured it was a bit more appropriate here. I have already got all the carpets out and the seats, which were unusually difficult, and have discovered that the drivers side floor pan is totally knackered, i can see the road through it and the rest feels like it's made of tin foil and cardboard :0( Next to come out this afternoon is the vinyl. EEEEK!! Thanks to anyone who follows my thread! Matt

I have a z32 right now and I find stores like z1motorsports(.com) and conceptzperformance(.com) are perfect for the aftermarket and oem scene... easy to navigate and good products. Are there any sites like this for the classic z's? I've seen motorsportauto's site which is very poorly laid out and hard to navigate, and thezstore.com which look slike it was made in 1999 and left that way. Can anybody suggest anything else? Maybe I'm missing a few? Thanks!

Just saw this and thought it merited posting here as a LOT of our members reside in this area. Frank ========== Northwest at Risk of Megaquake Like Chile's Tuesday, 02 Mar 2010 05:03 PM LOS ANGELES – Just 50 miles off the Pacific Northwest coast is an earthquake hotspot that threatens to unleash on Seattle, Portland and Vancouver the kind of damage that has shattered Chile. The fault has been dormant for more than 300 years, but when it awakens — tomorrow or decades from now — the consequences could be devastating. Recent computer simulations of a hypothetical magnitude-9 quake found that shaking could last 2 to 5 minutes — strong enough to potentially cause poorl…

OK, I will stop with three. The latest looked so original (and cheap) that I had to get it. It's a 1973 that I picked up off of Craigslist for $950. Just needs a lot of cleaning and an exterior paint job. I will keep it the same color and try to keep it as original as possible. There is very little rust on the car; just minor spots on the rear doglegs and one spot on the hatch. No rust on the floor boards, frame rails or under the battery. Surface rust on the exterior in spots, but nothing bad. The frame rails are a little beat up. It comes with the old style mags. The fourth is in the back of the car with a flat. Trying to figure if the spare on the car now i…

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/1616169965.html I've been corresponding on and off for a while, and the car has been for sale for a while. I'm working on getting some pictures of the undercarriage, but the owner's frustration in not having sold the car is showing in his writing; he's not up for much more having to do with anything but someone buying the car. Anyway... Is anyone in the North Hollywood area? It's over 2 hours for me (assuming no traffic) and I'd like to see the car but at the common-sense advice of fellow forum members I'm not going to make the drive up and back without getting the basics.

I know the correct answer is "whatever you like, it's your car".......BUT....... What do you guys think of the black rubber antenna instead of the original. The antenna on 797 is broken and I was leaning toward the black rubber rather than an after market automatic one........Just curious what you guys think about that rubber one on a 240Z. I do like to keep things original, but the antenna, well, I just never gave it any thought until today. So, Black rubber or OEM ish original.
