http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/cto/1599342293.html I've asked the seller for more pictures, hopefully I'll get some. Owner says it's a '72, repainted its original color in 1985 due to vandalism, it's claimed to be in excellent mechanical condition and it's claimed rust free. If swapping in a manual transmission doesn't involve cutting or drilling, and of course if the car turned out to be otherwise sound, it would be quite appealing. What sayeth the group?

OK, After owning 5 240Z's I should know this.....but sadly I don't. What exactly is the part pictured (circled in red) called. I couldn't find it on several parts catelogs so I thought one of you guys could help me out. Thanks, Randy PS....Generic picture from a 73, but assume it will be the same for a 70.

I'm in the process of stripping the interior from my 1971 240Z and was planning on coating it with POR 15 to stop the small amount of rust I've discovered and prevent future decay. I was also going to paint the engine bay, wheel wells, and most of the surfaces facing the road with POR 15. Do you all think this is a good idea? Is it overkill? I'm planning on making this 240Z an all-purpose racecar (autocross, track, possibly rallycross) with car club meetups and mountain cruises the only other times I take it on the road besides race events.

370 Z or not? I am torn and would like to ask the Z community for your opinion on a dilemma I have. I want to buy a 370z really bad but I just can't bring myself to do it. I have always been a Z enthusiast. I have three 240 and a 69- 2000 roadster. I had a 350z which I bought new in 03 but sadly had to sell in 06 due to the closing of my company. Luckily I was able to take a transfer to another division in the same town. I would like to buy new but it seems like a low miles used 370z makes the most sense. now let me give you little info the 240's 1. First 240 is a 1970 with 56k miles documented - The car …

Hello all - I am a longtime lurker here, and finally decided to join up.. I am gearing up to start on my 71, and thought I would get some input from anyone who wanted to participate in the thread where to start on this car. I picked up the car about a year ago. It has not ran in about 15 years. One day, it wouldn't start and after several shadetree mechanic attempts it just ended up sitting until I picked it up. During that time, parts of the car were gutted ("I'm going to restore it" syndrome), so the seats, console and carpets are gone, as well as the heater control bezel. Still had the correct ashtray in it, along with new ball joints and several pieces of fuel …

Was surprised to see my 260z on the frontpage of motorsport autos site as image of the week. That pic was of the car before I bought it. Here is a pic as it looks now.

I have a 5-speed to go into my 73, but I don't have the free cash right now to have it rebuilt. I actually enjoy driving the car around the city with the 4-speed/4.11 combo, but it revs awfully high on the highway. I'm going to have the 5-speed rebuilt next Winter, but it's just not in the budget for this season, after a whole bunch of non-car expenses cropped up this year. My question is, should I be concerned with driving the car at 3,500 - 4,000 RPMs for an hour or so on the highway? Of course, that's only 1/2 way to the redline, but I just feel like I'm pushing the car too hard when I drive it at 65 or 70 mph for long periods of time. Am I being overly protective …

Hiya. I've had a 72 240Z for about half year now and im learning new all the time about this precious piece. I imported it from California and as far as i know it's been bought from Torvick's Datsun, Santa Rosa. I know the name of previous owner but he's not that helpful to provide me info about owners before him. So my goal here is to find out how many owners this car had and hopefully some info about the past. Licence number is 609 FHK with california blue plates. Here in Finland we can check all data just using licence number, but how's that in USA?

It's been raining here in Portland and since I have my car out of the garage and running well, I have found a large amount of water on the driver's side floor. I've looked through the various posts recently and in the past and was able to fix my leaky hatch using that information, but I have not seen a similar description of what I have recently found. I tore up the carpet and find that the water seems to be coming down the top of the rocker panel where the plastic trim meets the carpet and running over the edge in to the car. There is a large hole under the drivers seat, I assume from the PO parking nose up in the past and having the water run backward. I park nose…

Of course we see a nice picture of the new 40th anniversary 370Z, but the spies have misidentified the 240 shown in the pics. It's obviously a 1970 Safari gold 240Z. What were they thinking?:stupid: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/25/spy-shots-2011-nissan-370z-40th-anniversary-edition-spotted/ http://forums.mazdaworld.org/index.php?showtopic=40760
