i got a r200 diff from the junkyard. seems to be a really tight rear end. great shape.. i cracked the drain plug loose. and the oil that is in it is really really clean. but i noticed, its red. witch led me to believe it was atf. but after smelling it and rubbing my fingers thru it, it is for sure gear oil. has anyone ever seen a redish gear oil?

Quite some time ago there was a very detailed thread on the upgrading of those very S L O W wipers in Zeds. I've tried the search without success so I'm hoping one of the club's gurus can point me in the right direction. A low depression travelling south along the Queensland coast is dropping heavy falls of rain and the wipers on poor old "Precious" can't cope. Rick.

Anyone had problems with thier battery after using Battery Tender? My wife got me a Battery Tender, the smart chipped charger that is supposed to keep your battery charged when the car is not in use without over charging your battery. I have a new battery I purchased last year, but in the winter months here in the St. Louis Metro area we get snow and they put tons and tons of salt down so I do not drive the Z much and my garage is not heated. I went down today to start the car, it hasnt been started in about a month, and I wanted to get everything spun over and circulated. No go, low battery voltage. I broke out my larger standard charger and the battery was taking 10…

Just acquired a '73 body for a donor for my '71. I posted pictures in my album. Seems to be very solid at least where I need it to be, but now I'm feeling just a little guilt that I'm going to cut her up to make my '71 pretty. Short history...my '71 is very sound mechanically, 89k miles, strong structurally, and I have cleaned up the interior with new seat upholstery,etc... The bad...PO added fiberglass flares bonded over original steel and left no "weep holes". Also has a cracked windshield. So the midwest weather took it's toll and it needs new fenders, rear quarters and dog legs as well as new paint. So the plan is to strip the '73 of what I need and sell/dispo…

Hi All, I have a bit more time for browsing as my 1979 Fairlady Z is back on the road after a 7- year ground up restoration. I do have 1 issue though: The engine will not idle below 1500 rpm when the engine is cold. It also has a hesitation when accelerating with the engine cold or hot. It had been dismantelled and re-assembled with new rings, bearings and gaskets. I've fitted new vacuum hoses, cleaned all the electric terminals and also swapped all of the following as a means of trying to find the fault by trial and error: Distributor, plugs and leads, airflow meter, fuel regulator, ecu and fuel filter. My next step is the bcdd valve. I am really keen on solving the prob…

most of us know that this little curved hose is not anymore available on the market and no repro has ever been produced. I finally found a solution. I bought a PCV valve hose and the curved section is the same. It is a perfect fit and a braided hose. Furthermore, I had enough remaining hose to replace all the short hoses of the emission hardware.

So Microsoft, Turn 10 Studios, and Jalopnik have teamed up to allow Jalopnik readers to choose which cars will be included in a new downloadable pack for Turn 10's racing hit Forza Racing 3 for the Xbox360. Follow this link to vote for the 240Z during todays first round of voting! (You can choose 10 of the 20 cars listed) http://jalopnik.com/5457337/forzalopnik-round-one-group-vi While I disagree vehemently with the description, these guys make a great game and having a 240 in it would be awesome. I'll update this thread when Round Two of voting begins.

Does anyone know of any place in the indianapolis area that can repair car locks? On both the door locks and rear hatch lock, the little metal flapper that keeps dirt out no longer stays in place. The flapper just flaps up and down depending on how you hold the lock. I have tried several places and can't find anyone that will take the lock apart and try to fix it. Most of the lock services are mobile and don't have the space. One place knew what I was talking about but didn't know if they still had the equipment. Thanks in advance. carl
