Finally got some pictures of my sons car today. 74 260 He didn't drive it to school:surprised So I took it to town and got a new batt cable- after it wouldn't start at the autoparts store until we wiggled the cable. We got the car for 450 and have about 1200 in it now. New exhaust from the resonator back, new starter,2 new tires, some new hoses, 5 speed trans. new driveline, dang non servicaable ujoints no more. I like driving it. It's a little drafty and it clunks when you decelerate like something is hitting the underside of the car in back but it is fun to drive. The trans. is shifting nice. It drops the rpm about 400 It is 2800 @ 70 if the speedo is correct. We use…

Hello all I actually have two questions. First off my Z has nasty overspray on the passenger side door panel. I tried using paint thinner to get it off with very little success. I've read a thread someplace to use lacquer thinner, does this work better? Anyone have pictures or tips about getting paint off said panel. Secondly. I cannot for the life of me find a 280z emblem for the rear hatch. Does anyone know of a place or have some lying around. Most of the places I've found use the "replace" method where you ship yours in and they give you a "new" one. But I don't have one to send in and the price is a bit steep for just an emblem. Jan

Went for a short drive this morning. My Niece's husband was driving my car, (a holiday treat for him), and while returning home we saw a very nice yellow 240Z on 101 North of 92. The yellow Z came up from behind, beeped his horn & waved as he slowly passed. We came along side, checking-out his car. It looked to be in great shape, and my relative loved the look of the Z in that color. We had to move away and over as we had to take the next exit. Quite a pleasant surprise seeing another 240Z on the road!

So what is the deal with Black Dragon? I ordered a couple of things from them last night but almost rarely is there any conversation or reference here about them. Good place, not so good place, direct competitor to a prefered vendor? I am preparing 3 Z's at the same time and don't want to end up with a major heartache. Leonard

There is one I've been given the chance to pick up. I've wanted one for a long time. It's a 1973 240z. It's a sort of olive/army green. What are things I should really check with shopping a 240z? Any notorious problems to keep an eye out for?

I'm sure plenty on this forum already know this, but I just wanted to pass on a good word for Mike's Z Shop in Whittier, CA. After a year and a half of doing my own minor work on the car, i finally needed to bring it to a professional mechanic. I didnt want to take it to any "around the corner" shop, so i did some internet research and stumbled across Mike's Z Shop in Whittier, CA. I knew nothing about them...but once i gave them a call... I knew instantly this was the place i'm going to take my car. To sum it up short. They are honest and they know their stuff. Z knowledge goes back generations at that shop. Awesome friendly service and fair prices. Disclaimer: I have ab…

Maybe this isn't the correct place to post this, and if not my apologies... But I just gases up the Z yesterday at Costco... Normally I would gas up at a Cheveron with Premium... But yesterday I opted for the Costco Premium gas.. 3.15 a gal, and it cost me 30.00 bucks for me to fill it up the 3/4 of a tank I needed for a full tank... How depressing... I finally get the car back together, Spring is here, and summer right around the coner.. and it looks like the Z will be parked in the garage till gas get to the sub 2.80 range If we ever see that again... So just so i don't feel so bad, will gas prices effect anyone elses use of there ride... and how much is gas in your…

I've had good luck in the past with giving prospective cars a pre-buy, professional inspection. I'm getting gradually closer to being able to shop for and buy my first z-car, and I wonder if anyone here has experience with this sort of thing. Whether you got good feedback from a pre-buy inspection, and also whether anyone can recommend a good shop. I'm in San Diego so feedback on southern california shops would be great. I'm not opposed to finding the right car just about anywhere in the country, but obviously to ask for feedback on a whole nation's worth of shops would be impossible so I'll just start with the SoCal area. Thanks in advance, everyone
