I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday weekend! After I removed the tar paper from the floorboards of my '78 coupe, I noticed a hole with a grommet on the passenger side underneath the hatch riser for a pair of wires colored black and green. The inner diameter of the grommet is approx. 1/2". These two wires run through the grommet to the underside of the car. I didn't trace them back but that's not the issue. What struck me about this was the fact that there is a lot of clearance around the two wires inside the grommet through which you can very clearly see the ground. Which to me means that water and other foreign substances have a big entry way into the inte…

I was wondering who has owned their Z the longest? That is the longest, continual, uninterrupted length of time? (Can you tell it's December and the snow is flying here???) My '70 for 30 years, 6 months.

I've had a look around on this site and the Internet more and I still can't find out how many 240Z's are left in britain! Obviously MANY have died of rust here in the UK and also crashes. Please feel free to add speculation here as well as cold hard facts. Cheers everyone Matt

My first experience of driving a Z was in 1980 taking my buddies 72 240 from Moscow Idaho to Joseph Oregon. One has to go through a little town called Anatone WA and then drive both sides of Rattlesnake grade. I hadn't been over that road since that day until today. Granted, I took the 500 SEC and not the 280, but man the flash backs! Rattlesnake grade drops 2000 feet in elevation, crosses the Grande Rhonde River and climbs 2000 feet back up. It is 22 miles of 25 mph seriously windy road that is a serious workout. What a riot! I had a ball. I guess the point of the post is I am certain there are other segments of road that offer a great challenge, great scenery, …

Last time I asked a question about the intake manifolds 240 vs 260 and I did not get a clear answer. My question now is air horns. The 240 air filter assembly comes with 2 air horns, well a lot of us took that out and put on K&N or WEIAND air filters to get better performance... did we really? has anybody tested the difference? performance economy etc. I have K&N filter now but MSA has air horns and claims performance gains, so I am wondering if I would get better top end or mid range performance one or two horses but I would use the old filter assembly.:stupid:

Started this thread on the 510 forum and have been getting quite a few cool responses and posts. Plus some history of how members became fans of their current Datsun models. I don't have a Z but I will be 30 in May Pretty much grew up around Datsuns as my dad (Diseazd) built more S30's and 510's than I can count. And yes..... one day I will buy a 240

Was browsing craigslist looking for parts for the ol' Z. Stumbled upon a 1970 240z. Doesn't look to be in great shape but it's there. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/1515289015.html Jan

I bought my 1976 280z in october of this year. I have been reading a lot about people draining all their cars fluids, coolant, oil, etc. According to the PO, this car had been sitting undriven in a garage for the last five years or so. I guess my question is, should I pull the plug under the gas tank and drain it out and inspect what little gas is in there? Or am I better off not touching it? Any responses are greatly appreciated, Thanks, John

Hi guys, I have a '73 240Z that I recently switched from downdraft dgv webers that the car had to '72 roundtop SU carbs. i installed a new mechanical fuel pump, and also am aware that '73+ Z's had an electric fuel pump sometimes installed near the gas tank. I removed that (electric pump) recently, eventhough it looked fairly new. so currently the car is running on a new mechanical fuel pump only. all other things equal, this should be fine right? im assuming it would be as 70-72 Z's didn't have to run an electric pump. i did a little research here and am assuming the electric pump was only to alleviate some vapor lock issues the flattop SU's had. thanks, -Mark

Hi all, So it seems kids in nearby city gangs (?) are messing with us here in rural Virginia. They're stealing stuff out of unlocked cars and had earlier been breaking into people's homes. Around the corner from me, someone vandalized a kid's 300ZX with spray paint, but I don't know whether that's related. Anyway, I'm getting nervous about my 280. Time for a security system, I think. Unfortunately I don't know what systems are good. I'm hoping some of you can recommend a system to me. Here's what I'm wanting in the alarm: (1) Triggers to motion, door opening (grounding of the circuit via the door switches), and perhaps also a +12 signal (although I can add a relay t…
