hey guys it's outlaw again and in the seach for my Z i've been catching static from the guys in the shop saying i'm looking for a fairy tale that they are hard to find and harder to find parts for... most guys in the shop are either into high octane muscle cars pushing 600hp or rednecks with lifted deisels and finally the "tuners" or honda guys (don't have the money for what the want) which i hang with and the guys who dig muscle and trucks support my choice but my question for you is why is it that most in the japanese trend must have the latest and newest thing if it is so much as 5 years old they think it's not road worthy and should be scraped... i've seen many old ja…

Hey Guys, Now that 797 is coming to the final stages, what would you call the process that the car went through. I am reluctant to say I fully restored the car only because on a few areas we used different nuts and bolts that will never be seen. While we did take the car down to bare metal, took out every bit of rust, replaced the floors with Zedds, took everything apart for paint, took out engine, trans, etc, I did make changes like electronic ignition, a fan shroud, and non braided hoses. I guess the bottom line is this: If someone asked me this Spring about the car should I say I had it restored, or refurbished. I was just curious what others thought, as this term c…

Nissan raised the height of the rear by 1 - 1 1/2" to the best of my memory in 1974 to help some high speed stability. I never liked the look. I put on Mullholland springs and shocks in '77 and that lowered it too much. I would like to get the same stance as the stock 240z's and I am asking if anyone knows what I gotta do. I still have the original springs somewhere, I think. IIRC, all 4 springs have the same color coded tape on them - meaning that they are all the same spring rate I would guess. I dont want to cut the coils. IIRC, the local auto parts places list the same spring for the 240Z and 260Z which I know is wrong. Are there correct 240Z rear springs that I can…

Just what the title says. The only time it every stops blowing is when the fan is shut off. Is there an actuator that runs the center and side vents for when the defrost and heater is going? Otherwise it just keeps pooring out to much cold air for the heater to keep up with. Thanks in advance

Re-fractured my right hand two weeks ago, by tripping on the porch because I forgot to activate the porch light sensor. Will be at least a month before I can drive or do any work on the car. Also have not posted much because it's a bit difficult to type. Not a big problem since the holidays are so busy I wouldn't have much free time anyway!

I'm looking at doing a sbc conversion on a 240 or 280, which ever one I can get cheaper. Is there a company out there that makes motor and transmission mounts or even a conversion kit for this? or do I need to make my own? I'd really just like to buy some. Also, is there a company that makes headers for these conversions? What car would you pick to do it on?

When using the ventilated air or A/C in my '78, I've noticed that there is a LOT more air flow through the right center diffuser than the left. With the blower at full speed, the right side blows nice and strong while the left side is pretty anemic. What's strange to me is the fact that the air source for both diffusers is the same. Now that I've got the dash out I've looked inside the evaporator housing that sits right behind the diffusers and cannot see anything that would cause this. I thought this may have been due to a leak in the duct system. The left duct coming off the evaporator housing fits nice and tight and is in good shape. Also checked the fitting of the sh…

I'll try to do this short. I got an 1970 240z Vin # in the 25.. (Dont remember the exact number) I got it from California and it's now in Quebec, Canada. I'ts been sitting in the chicken barn for 19 years! It need a very good refreshment on paint and mecanic. Motor is #1. I'Ve been stripping the paint and notice that it has been hit in the back. I had ½ inch of bundo at some place. The quarter are not that bad but the complete far end will cut and replace by a nice on I have. Damages are mainly around the rear lights and under the bumper. Beside that, the PO had the good idea to install some mold splash guard. He cut a 1/8 line of around 8 inch long in the quarter t…

Hey Guys, Took a look at a 72 240z near Bend Or yesterday. Lime colored with black interior. It would be a good project for some one just not me right now. The car has rust under the batt, both floor boards are rusty not see through yet. I didn't want to start banging away to much, but pretty sure they will need replaced. There is some rot in the pass dogleg and the front right fender bottom. Couple of spots under the rear hatch. The was more snow on the ground than I was willing to roll around in, so I can't speak to the frame rails. The owner has replaced the clutch, t/o bearing, and slave cylinder in an attempt to get it going. It fires and runs till the fuel filter r…
