I am looking for an early 240z. It was my first car and I totaled it 2 months after getting it. I really don't know much about what to look for. How do I find out if the numbers are matching, and what should be on a 240z. from the hubcaps to the mirror, bumber, etc. Any place I can get good reliable info on these early z's?

I thought I would make a quick post here for some of the guys I know who do not visit other Z sites as often. You may remember when I bought my 71 late last year and it looked like this: After some work this Summer and Fall, I was able to take her for a drive this past weekend. A complete motor and suspension swap from my old 73 car took place. This is what she looks like now: Just have a bunch of small things to finish over the winter.......then I get to move on to the 70 car.

It's been quiet a while since I've been able to get on the old computer. Never a shortage of things to do. Unfortunately I'm going to have to part with my beautiful blue baby guys. It makes me so sick to have to do it and it was something I never planned on doing but this tough economy is just leaving me with no choice. Things are going to be getting slower during the winter months in my line of work (RV Tech.) and they are talking about how we might have to start leaving a hr. early everyday plus a 2 week shut down around the holidays. It all really adds up and makes it a little tough to hang onto my Z hobby plus paying the storage garage every month is a pain as well.…

Sorry if this was already posted. Good article on Hagerty's website about the Japanese Classic Car show in Irvine CA. http://www.hagerty.com/lifestyle/hobby_article.aspx?id=58172#

I've owned a 311 for about 16 years and have recently decided I need to add an early Z. So a the owner of one that I looked at yesterday said they tend to twist, and his had small fatigue cracks in the paint at the bottom of the A pillars and at the top of the "C" pillars near the hatch. He said that every Z he'd owned had the same thing. Has anyone ever heard of or seen this? Thanks in advance. Todd.

No relation to seller, haven't seen the car in person. Wife has forbidden me from acquiring more cars until I finish a couple of projects around the house. http://eugene.craigslist.org/cto/1429830134.html I have seen more pictures, fairly complete Early car, apparently around #12000 or so, probably 10/70. Fairly solid, some rust under the battery, don't know about the rest. Probably better than most any car at this price you'll find in the Rust Belt.

Hi all, Here and there, I've been buying a few major rebuilt components for my Z from AutoZone. Their Duralast parts are generally lifetime warranted, and they keep all the documentation on their computer network -- i.e. no need to come in with receipts. Prices are also quite good, and the rebuilt items appear to have been well done. This is all very attractive, except... I replaced my alternator less than a month ago with a Duralast reman unit. It went dead a few days ago. Moreover, I haven't really driven the car much since then. I've maybe driven it every 2nd or 3rd day on short trips. Was I just unlucky? Are Duralast parts ordinarily as good as the lifetime war…

Hi Gang: Didn't we discuss this 74 260Z with 19K original miles? Anyway the Hagerty has a video of it, and they used it to talk about "what to look for" on the 240/260/280 Z's.. I think the video was shot at the Mecum Indy Sale this summer. As I recall wasn't this car on E-Bay? http://video.hagerty.com/video/Guide-to-Datsun-Z-cars FWIW, Carl B.

So I'm in the garage this evening doing the final packing of two Z car parts orders and decide I don't want to carry these two large boxes out to the street to put them in the 4Runner. So I back the 4Runner in to the driveway and load up the two boxes close the back and set the alarm. I'm now done with Z work for the night and glad to be ready to ship some more parts off. I just happen to glance over at my 240Z on the other side of the driveway and about die...the entire rear hatch glass is shattered!!! The whole thing is still in place though it's spiderwebbed and every now and then I can hear more cracking taking place. I'm doing my best to remain calm and not tota…

A very good friend of mine Jim Osborn (Z Devil) from Delray Beach took this clip after our Christmas party last year. Since I get a lot of requests to update my pics on my page I thought I would post this for everyone to view and hopefully enjoy.
