Any of you guys having this trouble? My Z's are starting to breed at night. First I was outright given a 77 280z that wouldn't run (pos and neg cables crossed). Not knowing what the problem was initially, I purchased another 77 as a parts donor. Within a few days, I looked out and a 72 240 was nestled between them. Just a couple of weeks later, I noticed another 280 setting next to them with the hood up. And just last night, I was walking around in the shop and there was yet another, a 71 240, orange with white interior. I am almost out of cash.................. ugh! No more clunkers. I did find what I hope to be my last Z, at least for a while, yesterday. Followi…

Yeah a few weeks ago I posted a smug message about what a great deal I got on my 280Z. Today, I realize I'm the biggest sucker in the world. The heater inlet hose sprung a leak yesterday, so I stopped by my new favorite auto parts store this morning and found a replacement from their stock, and got a couple of new hose clamps to replace the rusty ones. While I was working at that corner of the engine, I thought I'd find the serial number and just see if it was a numbers-matching car. I was never planning on a concours restoration, so it wasn't a requirement. I cleared away the grease and no surprise, the numbers didn't match. However, there was a big surprise. I blin…

I was wondering if someone could help me.. I am looking to buy a '76-'78 280z right now because I miss the first car I had in high school. I have the vin number for the car and I wanted to see what has happened to my old car. I bought it right around the time of 11-1-94, it had 29,513 miles showing on the odometer at the time (I'm pretty sure it was actually 129,513), and it was a black '78 280z 5-speed. It has now been over ten years so it could be that the car is gone now . It was 11 of 77 or 78 and the number on it was HLS30-438093. I sold it to a teen and his father around '96 or '97. The car was in DFW, TX when I bought it and it was sold in DFW, TX. Thanks in…

I am still working on my Z little by little. At the body shop today I was asking the guy about my hood latch, which often pops up (thank goodness Z cars have hoods which open the right way!) He instantly noticed something I had missed all this time: the hood is hitting on the top of my radiator! And it's wearing through the brass at a good clip. Now, this is a car that (now that I have owned it for a while) shows every sign of having been made from parts of about 3 other cars (one of them a Maxima!). So my questions are: 1) Is this the right radiator for my '78 280z? If not and I just get a new radiator, will the problem be magically fixed? 2) If it IS the right …

So I roll my donor zx turbo into the garage to see if I can hear it run before I pull the motor to put in my 77. I hook up my remote starter to make life easier and no power anywhere. Classic corroded battery cables. Clean them up, power now to the dash, wiggle a few wires and the motor turns right over. But, no spark. I fool and fool with it and nothing. Read ten thousand threads on a half dozen z sites and chase every single lead I can find. Finally give up and admit defeat. Low and behold, the entire ecu was missing. :stupid: Who steals an ecu? I bet I have 10 hours into the thing to figure that out. I found an ecu at a local bone yard that has 84zx turbo wri…

Did these ever exist? Were they ever available in yellow? I'm asking because I have a pair of 2+2 doors that I was told came from a 240Z and they are yellow inside and out so that leads me to believe that it may be an original color (I have not inspected too closely for over spray yet). I do not recall the 240Z ever being made in a 2+2 style...

Swung by ZTherapy's shop today and was presented with what was actually a barn find in the #30 car. It was getting a bath before going back into storage in another building. A real piece of history. Pretty cool. In another shop, new body work was being fitted to a vintage IMSA car one of the fellows recently found and is returning to origional livery....... Carry on.....

I just happened to see that a 1973 240Z will be part of the Barrett Jackson auction coming up in Las Vegas. The auction goes from 10/7 to 10/10/09 and the Z will be auctioned on 10/9. It's in lot#319. You will see it if you go to their website. I believe the Speed channel is covering the event. I think it will be VERY interesting to see what it goes for. Any guesses? JTMader

Searched, but I'm not sure if I read it here or another "Z" site, but there was a disscussion about these vents (pic). For those interested they are being sold on ebay for $125 a pair.
