Hi Guys! Where is the best place to search for OEM part numbers? I used to do this on the Nissan site or carpartsmanual.com, but Nissan's website dropped all of the S30 models and carpartsmanual doesn't seem to have the actual numbers. I am trying to figure out the OEM gaskets for the 1977 L28. http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun/Z-1969-1978/engine-280z/engine-gasket-kit

Since there is still a lot of stuff about these not known exactly and many confusing topics, thousand of pages and myths, I will try here to make it easier. If anyone has additional information or something is not right, please post, then I will modify the 1 post. This is for stock factory transmissions only, NOT competition ones. There are A, B and C types transmissions ( C was never used in Z cars so I will not add these here ) Update 9/7-21 : Also the 4.11 ratio R180 was not used on Z cars ( correct me if I am wrong ) Also not sure if 3.90 was used in the USA on the 260/280Z and ZX So far I have: Nissan S30 Fairlady Z Japan t…

Hi all, I suspect I have an electrical short somewhere, and could use some help going about how to find it. I recently was replacing my alternator, and initially inverted the + and ground wiring to the alternator(combination of not labeling the stock wires, swapped location of posts on new alternator, and my being a bonehead). Upon connecting the battery, the fusible link did not blow, but cooked the insulation off the wire. The wiring lived for maybe 6-10 seconds before I realized what was happening and disconnected the battery; I cannot be sure I didnt cook some insulation off a wire elsewhere in the car. I have replaced the fusible link, and pulled the wra…

I’ve owned about 15 Z cars over the years, most were 280Z. Still of course own my first 240Z. somewhere along the line, I put together a 280 with all new Factory EFI. I don’t remember what this is or does. I found it while setting up my new garage at the new house. I don’t suppose I need it, but I’d like to know what it is!

Hi all, I installed an MSD ignition in my '72 Z, and now the alternator is way under-spec-ed. Battery dead after 10 minutes of driving. I installed a new 70amp alternator from z car depot, and have one question about the factory harness. there's a 2 pin harness that runs to the old alternator location. the new has a tab labeled "ignition key on". I believe I'll need to manually wire this lead to one of the two pins of the car's harness. i can't tell if its the yellow wire, or the white/black wire. Any help would be appreciated. I found this data point on the 280z: F&N (T connector) N (Yellow) (on the early alt becomes the Sense signal on the newer …

Was at a garage helping out sorting/tagging all the Z parts for a widow for selling them and came across a smashed dash. Didn't think anything of it at first, then pulled it down from above and saw the gauges didn't smashed, so added it to my parts pile. Got home and saw what vin# it was and was pretty surprised of the low vin. Pulled the gauges and harness then added them to my collection.
