:classic:I found this 1972 240Z in a barn about two miles from my house. A couple of spare engines, 4 or 5 R180 and R200 rear ends, two extra trannys (I think one is a five speed?) etc. So my Dad, my son and I drug it home and are ready to start putting her back on the road. I hope you are all ready for some more basic questions that I'm sure you have heard before. I have attached a picture if you are interested, (wasn't sure how to insert a picture into the text?). Oh, and one last thing, the barn belonged to my Dad, and the car is the one I used to race at Mid-Ohio and Nelson's Ledges a couple decades ago. SCCA Improved Touring Sport class. Now that my son is 14 and i…

I like to brag about the Z as the "most popular sportscar in the U.S.A., but someone will then say, "What about the Corvette..." or, "what about the Mustang..." or the BMW Z3 or 318, and so forth. The Z is a sportscar, the Corvette is (the only American ) sportscar, a Mustang is a Pony car, the Z3 is a roadster, and the 318 is an executive/touring car. Then the same person will say, "What about the Infinity...., or Acura......, etc" which are performance sedans. Sportscars have exceptional handling due to light weight, "2 seats," a well-engineered, balanced chassis, and modern suspension. A powerful engine alone doesn't make a sportscar. It goes without sayi…

I enjoyed the engine bay refresh on my 70 Z so much that I have decided to do it again, only this time on my newly acquired 71Z with the L26 motor. Seeing as how the motor is not original, I will not be as careful about sticking to the originality of the motor and engine bay detail. I would like to keep it somewhat close however. The two glaring things I want to fix here is the block color:sick: and 'Silver Overspray'. Actually, we're not talkin' silver overspray, we're talkin' silver spray paint gone wild. I will clean up the block and paint it the nissan blue, clean all of the aluminum to its original non-silver condition, and clean or replace the silver gromme…

Hello all About three weeks ago I purchased my first Z. A 1976 280z with a 5 speed. The car is in pretty good shape with only a tad bit of rust located in the wheel well under the battery box. The interior is in pretty good shape as it has a complete dash cover. (so I'm pretty sure the original dash is cracked). Engine is in great shape but does have a fairly annoying ticking noise coming from the injector side of the engine. Not sure what it is yet but I will figure it out. Its fairly loud, (can hear it in the car when driving.), but I'm thinking the injectors are just old. As for problems. At the moment the gas tank is leaking from one of the connection points. I'm …

Double wammy picture overload. Sorry for all those with dial up My dad finally filled the dance card with a 73 240z with 42k miles. Now he has a 70, 71, 72 & 73 This car is awesome!!! All reciepts, original paint, interior etc. It's like new inside. Drives amazing. I even like the auto trans!!!! Second set of photos is the Fairfax meet this past Sunday. Eiji Hosimi brought Hiro Hatanaka who was in town from Japan. Hiro is well known both here and Japan for being a premiere Z restorer, tuner etc. Eiji also brought out his newest creation. A 280z with 240z rear end conversion, True JDM G nose kit and an incredibly clean L28 with slide valve carbs just like his orang…

Before the flaming ensues I have searched on this topic and come up with very little info. If you are privy to this info being somewhere on the forums, etc please be helpful and point me in the right direction instead of telling me to use the search function.... I have recently purchased 1972 240Z that has been restored from the ground up. It is, however, somewhat unique. Regardless of it being unique I'm having a hard time tracking down numbers for a declaired value for insurance purposes. I have had the car into an Appraiser but I know the majority of his research will be on E-Bay and I suspect it won't be an accurate estimate to the value of the vehicle. Has anyone had…

Hello All, Does anyone know where I can download some simple outline type drawings of a 240Z? I would like to use them to play with color schemes and graphics before I spend the big bucks on paint. Thanks, Regular Joe
