I got all the legals squared away yesterday on my 72 240z find. It is factory orange and white and the only rust anywhere is on top of the fender over the right rear wheel. Body shop friend of mine laughed and said "it is nothing, easy easy fix." I put it up on the rack and see that it has two pipes from the engine to the exhaust tips with resonators in the middle. I am guessing this is the "twice pipes" I have read about here? The car apparently has an R200 with a 4:56 posi, 4 speed and an L26 with an aluminum flywheel. PO said it "comes out of the hole damn fast but tops out about 100". I would think that sounds right? He said 60 mph is about 3000 rpm. The tach…

In the never ending restoration of 9070 I wan to make the car better without messing it up. (all bolt on mods) So bolting on sway bars seemed like a good thing. I bought the rear bar complete several years ago on eBay. Well I opened it up and it had no mount plates (no idea if they were supposed to be there or not, can't remember). The bar looked like an older Suspension Techniques bar and it would fit if it would have the mounts. I have the matching front bar already mounted. So after searching this site I found a thread about ST Suspension (Suspension Techniques) and googled them. Called and asked if they would sell just the mount brackets. They said sure, and t…

I could hear somebody narrating my life... "He was not a mechanic, hardly mechanically inclined... It was only when he stood back that he started to comprehend what his labor of the last couple hours had amounted to. "oh !@#$," he thought to himself, "what have i done".

FROM: The SEMA Action Network Saved From The Scrapyard Hobbyist Protections Added to Lessen Impact of Cash for Clunkers Program It seemed inevitable. In response to the economic tsunami, nations around the world have enacted cash for clunkers programs to help jump-start new car sales. The United States has now joined the crowd. But, there is good news. The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and the SEMA Action Network (SAN) persuaded Congress to spare cars 25-years and older from the scrappage heap and expand parts recycling opportunities under the new law. Congress passed the controversial program in June. Consumers who voluntarily participate, will receive a …

In my quest to learn every thing about my new 260z I'm having a hard time finding all the specs on my new car! Such as motor specs, drive train specs and how to ID what parts I have like head, rear ends, what gear is in the car and so on. I have looked around on google alot and other few places, but nothing. I have tried searching on here but maybe i'm not putting in the right wording? any help would be great i'm trying to getting it more street able and nicer to drive around! But for those problems i'll keep them to that section in the forum thanks!

Yesterday's Top Gear involved another of TG's famous "Cheap Car Challenges" in which the presenters participated in a classic car road rally. Well, a rally prepped 240 appears at least 3 times in the shows final twenty minutes! At about the 44:08 minute mark a close-up of a series 2 quarter panel is shown as the Z starts out on the next leg of the course. Later, when the rally moves to a closed race circuit, the Z appears again. This time it's at the end of a row of cars outside the track. About 54:43 into the episode. At 54:47 we get the best view yet, as the car is driven directly in front of the camera. For anyone that wants to check out last night's episode…

Me again, I found on the local website a 1970 240Z for sale. It is HLS30-03753. it has many of the features of a series one 240Z (Metal fan, Valve Cover, Carbs, Hatch, etc). It was plated and on the road as late as 2002. It is 100% complete with the original engine and does not have much rust. It has had an accident which has damaged the front drivers side (headlight and quater panel). I can get the car cheap, but moving it will cost me about $500 (3 hours away). I am looking for opinions. Check out my profile for pictures.

I know a guy with a completely stripped 260z body shell and another with a rusted out 240z. Question: can I strip all the parts off the 240 and put them on the 260? Are all the various parts interchangeable, like fenders, windows, doors, rearend, etc?
