I have finished updating a 1978 280Z 2+2 that my dad bought new. He drove it until May of 1982 when illness forced him to put it in storage in his Michigan barn. It sat there until last June when I returned to MI to settle the family estate. I made arrangements to have the car towed to the junk yard as it was sitting under 6+ inches of racoon crap. A closer inspection showed that the car was worth restoring and after a considerable investment it runs again and runs like a swiss watch (or a Datsun 280Z). It has Dayton Wire wheels (a real mistake on my part as they are near impossible to balance). Also of note is that the interior of the car looks like it did when it was pa…

I’m working on installation of my AC lines, bending the hard tubing. My question is where to locate the service ports. Is there any “best location for the service ports? I’m assuming that anywhere that’s convenient for servicing is OK, but wanted to verify before bending and cutting more lines. I'm planning to locate my drier on the passenger side strut tower, but am open to a better solution. Thanks!

Great, I went out and bought a classic sports car and now I can't even replace the windshield wipers! But seriously, I bought some nice wiper blades that the application book at the parts store said should work if I 'Re-use original pin'. Well, what I guess they mean by original pin seems to be riveted at one end to the old wiper, which is trashed. It seems like I recall buying wipers for another of my cars and there was a little plastic pin in the box. Is this is the part I need? What brand of wipers can I still find such a thing in? Or is there an OEM metal pin that some previous owner threw out? Thanks as always for the advice!

I ran across this today surfing for carbon fiber parts. http://www.globalmotors.net/amazing-work-datsun-fairlady-z-concept-design/ Reminds me of a GT-R from the front but kind of cool nontheless. I have seen something similar posted before but not this same concept. Here is that link from last year http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30436&highlight=nissan

Hi, Does anyone know if there is a set of X-Ray type views of various parts of a 240Z or pictures that show these areas with the outer metal surface removed? I am particularly interested in the lower part of the dogleg just in front of the rear wheel and other rust prone areas as I am thinking of packing those areas with chassis grease (poor man's POR-15) to stop it from rusting. I lost my last 240 to rust don't want to lose my current car that way. Thanks! Mike

Looking for essentially a surface shell drawing of an S30 chassis. All the talk of drag coefficients and such in one of the other current threads has made me want to see what would happen if I tried modeling one of our cars in one of the CFD (computational fluid dynamics) codes that I run every day. Might be fun in my "spare time" . Would need to be either a format that Pro/Engineer can read, or a generic IGES file exported from your CAD system that I can read into our finite element mesh generation code. Even a 2D elevation outline might be interesting. Our codes are 3D, but I can mock up a 2D slice around the car. I'm just not very good with CAD. Got other peopl…
