So Ive been looking for a while and found this project Z on craigslist. Guy has already thrown in the SR20det, motor mounts from McKinney. Came with Greddy turbo timer and boost controller. He already has the front mount and the fans mounted up. Comes with a pretty beefy sway bar, but i need to buy some bushings for it. I guess he hadn't started on wiring yet, so that needs to be done. I also need to mock up an exhaust for this thing. He had some 3" tubing laying around that he bought for this project, so he gave me that too. Here are some pics from yesterday when I picked it up. I am gonna start a progress thread. I know everyone likes those. But my question for you …

Just out of curiosity and boredom, where does everyone get there parts from? Looking at stuff like alternators, elec pumps, starters, hardware, rubber bits, you know just the basic everyday stuff to keep these things going year after year.

Has anyone ever used a Z chassis to build an open wheeled roadster? I've been into Z's for 30 years now and have one that is a basket case. I'm wondering if there's a way to remove the strut towers and attach short struts/shocks/mounts lower. What I'm thinking of is something like this: Anyone ever try it with a Datsun Z - even though it's a unibody type? Anyone ever remove the entire shell?

In case you have been on EBay you may have noticed my Green 71 listed, lots of looker's but not many bids......ok, high bids. Do you guys think my floors are hurting me that bad, I guess I should have replaced them and then listed it, oh well. If it doesn't met the reserve I'll get to it this fall. The 70 model should be ready in 2 to 4 weeks, and of course we went over budget, but this car will be perfect when were done. Would like to keep both but I can't find the extra money tree seeds...... Randy

I will keep my eye out but I recall seeing a commercial in the last few nights that looks to me to have a glimpse of an early body style Z in it. Just a partial of the Z as it turns away I think - it was a fast clip, anyone else catch this yet? I'll try to recall what the commercial was and look for it again.

firstly: the 3 rubber spacers that keep the horn bracket from making contact have pretty much worn away. anyone know where i can get replacements for those? i've tried a couple of different rubber washers... i can't find anything soft enough. i'm about to try to make some out of plumbing snake. secondly, the pad itself is loose and jiggly. is it supposed to be like this?
