Could someone show me a picture of the door jam in a 240z? The doors on my 240z are missing the dove tails, which I just ordered, but I think it might be missing the piece that goes near the door latch. Where is the spring loaded piece supposed to go?

This winter I'm working on restoring a club members 12/70 240, and today along with many other things, I had to remove the mud flaps. Now, you wouldn't expect this to be a process that typically warrants sharing with you, but I am sure I win some kind of award for what I found and what I had to do. Just had to show you. As you will see by the first picture, there were eight different fasteners with a variety of nuts/washers holding the two front mud flaps to the fender, four each side, requiring, if I remember, seven trips back and forth to the tool box to get the right wrench/screw driver/nut driver/plier etc. What impressed me most is time it likely took that guy to…

They thought I was crazy before. But now they have unequivocal proof - a 1970's Japanese car has arrived ! As I put over in the other thread I am a new 260Z guy here. I have not had a 260Z in 33 years or so and have not thought too much about in about 10 years or so. After looking at a new 370 I decided to have a look around for a 260 - and there one was. Now Ive got it. For a week or so I have been pouring over these Forums to think about beefing up the performance of the car. Does it seem to you that these cars were faster back then in the 1970's too - or do I just mis-remember ! It just cant be that the 260 goes 0 to 60 in 10 seconds? Teenies and chickas i…

Does anyone know if there is a hose kit for the 240? I have found a few pieces here and there but wasn't sure if anyone made a kit with all the hoses included. Thanks for any direction.

Good evening to all the Z heads on this excellent forum. I am new guy to the Z Car Forum but not that new to the Z having had much time in a 260 back in 1977 or so! A couple of weeks ago when the 370 hit , and I saw those commercials during the bowl and BCS games, I went to a couple of the Nissan dealers here in Houston and had a look. The new 370 had certainly improved and it got my interest up. I decided to have look for another 260 and then if nothing was out there, then maybe I'd latch a new 370. About 10 years ago or so I had looked pretty hard for a good solid and not chopped up 260, but nothing I saw suited me at the time. This time was different, and in jus…

Hi, I posted an interesting thing of a parts catalog in my web site. You can see it here,http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/philo.html Some of you already knew it, the parts catalog (both USA/CANADA and RHD model) has 5 page inserts, each paper has very good instructions for mechanic/sales people of the dealership, also they are very worth to read even for us now. Is this a Mr.K's idea? How do you say in English like these words, an instruction? philosophy? policy? We, in Japan, I have never seen such a thing in the parts catalog/service manual/bulletin e.t.c. I put a title "Mr.K's philosophy" for this page, but I want to know what is a best way to describe. Any advice w…

I was lubing the latch and the hinges on my 240z and, somehow, the latch on the passenger door spun around and the door will not close. The rubber piece is supposed to be facing towards the ground and the silver hump is supposed to be horizontal. Instead, the rubber piece is horizontal and the silver hump is facing upwards. Does anyone know how I can turn it back?

Be carefull buying a l28 timing kit from innerfire engine parts. The kit has the wrong parts and the guy (Johnny) keeps on selling them. The picture and description look good and the price was great at 50 dollars. I have to give Johnny credit where due, after several emails of me explaining that the kit was not correct i was refunded in full.. However the price was to good to be true in the end.. Rex
