I am going to be replacing the vented Hatch on Larrys car with a non vented hatch because the steel under the paint is simply too far gone to repair(as is the hood, and both will serve as absolute proof of condition for the pending litigation), and of five hatches I have looked at, all are pretty useable on the outside at but seriously eaten up on inspection with a mirror/borescope. I have found a later non-vented hatch that is suitable. Composite from John at BetaMotorsports-no rust issues ever!. John has sent me a wealth of pictures, and I am going to the chosen paint and body shop to show them the composit pieces and get their take before ordering. Anyway, Larry asked…

Anyone have a copy of February 2002 issue of Classic & Sports Car Magazine? There's an article titled "The Joy of Six" that pits the 240Z against the Porsche 911 and the Ferrari Dino 246. I thought I had it, can't find it. Perhaps someone has a pdf of the pages?

Recently a Z (friend of a friend kinda deal ) showed up at the shop with fuel delivery issues. Long story short, cut the top out of the tank to find out what was causing the blokage and there was about a half inch of this tannish red granular substance covering the bottom of the tank, the baffles and up the sides of the tank a ways. We have seen like "stuff" one other time in the float bowl of a down draft Weber on a 510 wagon. It almost looked like what you'd think a filter element would look like if it dissolved. Fibrous, Granular in structure. This Z had about 5 gallons of fresh gas in it which did nothing to take this "stuff" back into solution. You could wring the g…

Is it just me, or is the "Vendors" section missing ? In the top drop down box, there is a section for vendors, but this is missing on the main page, as per this screen shot.

The heater in my 71 is blowing lukewarm air. Granted, last spring I put in a 170 degree thermostat, but I recall last winter she didn't blow that warm either. I felt both the heater inlet and outlet hoses under the hood, both are hot. My cable to the temperature control (heater valve) is broken, but I manually moved the lever on the valve to the hottest position. Here's another weird clue: I'm getting moderately warm (not real hot) air from the passenger side heater or defrost outlet, but COLD out of the drivers side. I cant see any tears or disconnected heater ducts, but I'm looking today. I'm also flushing the cooling system today.

I have created in my cars web site a place for all of the original owners of 280Z's (only 75,76,77,and 78). This is like the list of original owners of 240Z's that Carl Beck (hope you don't mind) has. I would like to see how many are out there. Pass the link on to other if you can think of any. To my cars site: http://photographictrends.com/zcar/index.html Straight to the cars listed and info. page: http://michaelgoodweddings.com/datsun/index.htm Thanks and I hope to further the growing information on the Z car.
