I found this last week while searching the net. The VIN # doesn't have the 3 in it. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C52351/ He has it painted like a 78 Corvette pace car. I think the guy got the vin wrong. And why is he advertising in England? John

I have always been a HUGE fan of the z model cars. 240-280z has been my dream car. Im considering getting a project off ebay in the very soon future but still have alot to learn! I will go ahead and list some questions I have. Do you guys keep the stock rear end or do you usually swap it out for a straight axle? Are engine swaps very popular on these cars or will the straight 6 push out alot more with little work? What do these cars run stock? How reliable are the stock trans? How many miles do you guys get out of the straight 6? What are the most common engine swaps? Are there any companies that sell body kits, flares, valence? Also, This is a picture I found on t…

Hello All, Well, I have my car running after sitting for 4yrs. I bought it a year or so ago but was really busy and have just gotten around to bringing her back to life (very slowly & carefully). She runs but idles erratically, I've set the valves, checked timing, and set the carbs best I can without a Uni-syn. I see oil during start, but the gauge reads "0" @ idle (bad press xmitter), however follows engine RPM. What's normal @ idle ? She runs very rough, almost like she wants to grenade herself. The car is a bit of a Hybred: '71 240, 280ZX block w/flat top pistons, E31 head, E46 intake, 4screw SU's, Crane 6AL Ignition, & 280z Magnetic Dist. This is the co…

I bought this car 7 1/2 years ago. Drove it into my pole barn and havent had time to get to it yet. Stupidly I found time to completely salvage 2 parts cars (a 73 and 75) so I have all of their parts also, along with other parts. Anyway I have come to the conclusion that if I havent touched it since I've bought it I should probably let someone who will really appreciate it have it. I am attaching some scanned photos that I took when I first bought it. If you want more details/better pictures let me know as I now have a digital camera. Overall it is in pretty decent shape very restorable vehicle I think, battery area is good. Rust around the rear wheels/dog legs don…

As some of you may know, the earliest 240Zs in North America (maybe the first 1000 or 1500?) had plastic fuel door knobs. Later 1970 and 71 North American models had thicker metal knobs. I'm not sure about the rest of the world. I think the JDM and most other export models had a keyed lock on the door, instead of just a knob to latch it closed. Someone correct me if that is wrong. Anyway, the plastic knob that was on HLS30-00331 when I got it was broken off down to the base. See the attached before photos. Rather than just throw it away I wanted to see if I could repair it. I used an unbroken original I have to make a mold using POR15 epoxy putty. Then I made a s…

I havent looked at the car yet. It is a 76 280z. It is completely stripped minus the dash and seat. H ehas $750.00 in parts receipt, mainly the entire brake system. Says it runs great. It has no rust. The floor pans, gas cap door, rockers, were all replaced (which is why the car is stripped). All the glass and interior comes with the car. The interior is missing both door panels but he has another 77 280z that has complete interior that I can gut what I need before I leave his property. He is asking $750.00 for both cars. It has a clear title. My main interest is that the car is running. Which means I would be able to cruise around town while im redoing the interior and…
