My girlfriend is going to be the new owner of her father's 1971 240z car before the end of the month. From what I can figure out after doing some research online is that it's a Series II of the 1971 model. Sorry I don't have pictures at this point, but it's green. What I do know about it is that the engine was replaced with one from a wrecked 240z. The engine has roughly 30k miles on it, the car itself (odometer) shows around 107,000 miles. Her father is a machinists for the u.s. air force (he's civilian), so he's taken very good care of the car. I'd really like to know as much as possible about this car. I'm new to the 240z car world (I drive a subaru wrx wagon a…

A bunch of old Zs are due for the shredder.... See the eBay link to learn more... From the Roadster forum in a discussion about wheels.... The junk yard is Pick'n'Pull in Oakland: 8451 San Leandro St, Oakland, CA, near the coliseum. The 510 doesn't have anything left but the body and frame. Body panels are dinged, but usable. I don't know what Pick'n'Pull will sell those rims for, but they're really nice. There was also a Z with a lot of good parts: glass, inside door panels, bumpers, rear lights, all body panels good except for front left fender. This car will probably be gone soon. There are lots of Zs in Oakland. Date of manufacture was 11/1970.

:stupid: So much to learn ... My brother had his 1971 240z engine replaced by the dealer at purchase time in 1971 with a 260z engine. He has lots of maintenance records and paperwork through the years, but not anything about the engine upgrade. I found this tag on our Z, but it looks like the original manufacturer info in Japan from 1971. How would you know by looking at the engine what it is? Sounds great, turns heads everywhere we roll, but I'm baffled and hopeful you can clue us in. I was thinking that since the original purchase said Datsun on the tags, but one of the components says Nissan, that might be the 260z clue. Whew, feeling kinda dumb, but wanting t…

OK, did the search thing and found references about eliminating the vent box/tank, but no specifics about this. What is the considered opinion about this? I can understand in keeping a car as stock as possible, but my path is to do logical upgrades to enhance the vehicle. Surely, after 38 years there is a better way to vent the tank than what currently exists.

I saw my first 2+2 Z in person this summer and I can't say that it sat right with me. I thought that it killed most of the Z's most endearing lines. After seeing a couple of really well done 2+2s on the web though, I'm beginning to accept them as fairly good looking in their own right. Case in point is a very nice Irish Z that was recently posted to the car blog www.Jalopnik.com. It's a well done blue/gray with fender flares, dished wheels and JDM mirrors. Irishman Modernizes Classic Datsun 260Z, Hoping To Start New Stereotype What do you guys think?

Two cars, on parts, very rough, the other is a 69 datsun, very rare, first 300 of only 500 made in 1969.This car has been sandblasted. Went to my pick'n'pull yesterday to pull off a fuel pump; ended up taking home a bit more that I'd been planning on, but the price ended up being about right... The place has had 2 '81 S130's sitting around for quite a while (I've posted about them in other threads), and the yard owner just doesn't seem to care about them. Works for me. Both are automatics, and the one I pulled the pump from appears to have the R-200 differential. I would assume the other has the same (way too many weeds/thickets/thorns to investigate, otherwise I'd have grabbed it's fuel pump as well). So, yes, 30 bucks got me a fuel pump (cleaned it before taking the photo), two dizzies (both E12-92, …

This very well could be the highest known VIN belonging to a 1970 registered Z. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-1970-Datsun-240z-lightest-most-desirable-Z-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ140266000328QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item140266000328&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A10%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14 Might sell quickly?

Just thought I let you all know that Collectible Automobile Magazine has a really nice feature of the 240Z. It even has a Yellow "240ZG" version supposedly driven by Mr. K himself. As usual though they seem to have got the Goertz myth wrong again but what magizine hasn't that featured the Z. Well anyway I only glanced at it at the store so will make good reading though for some one who buys it. Some really nice Z pictures in there right from the open shot. And the Best part is Classiczcars.com is the 1st listed on the car clubs list ! Freaking AWESOOOOMMMMEEEE ! ~Z~

One of the local Z Nissan Dealerships was taking delivery of a new GTR and they invited the Z car club of Houston out. So we saddled up and went to take a look. There was many more, but I thought I would throw a few of my favorites up.

Saw this today. Looks pretty decent in pictures. No connection to the seller, and I have NOT seen it in person. Just a heads up. http://eugene.craigslist.org/cto/892774327.html
