A 1970 Datsun 240Z is featured in the recent (Nov. 2008) issue of Classic Motorsports. It is part of a long article about classic cars and their "descendants" (i.g., they test a 1970 Porsche 914-6 and a 2004 Porsche Boxster). The 1970 Datsun 240Z happens to be owned by the owner of the magazine (Tim Suddard). The yellow Z is basically stock but has a 280ZX 5-speed. They compare it to a 2007 Nissan 350Z. They corner-weighed the 240Z: LF 579 lbs. RF 598 LR 548 RR 581 --- Total weight: 2312 lbs. They suggest that the value of the car today is $6,000-$22,000. They also think that the 5-year projection value is $12,000-$30,000. http://www.classicmotorsports.net On p.145 of …

Does anyone know if it is possible to find out through Nissan records the actual day a car was produced, like with Ford/GM cars? Of course we all know where to get the month and year. Just thought it would be cool to get the complete info.

Hey guys just put the cheque in the mail to Cold Springs. I hardly released it from my fingers when a shudder of remorse ran up my spine - normal, for me anyway in the rediculas process of buying without seeing. :stupid: Won't see the car for at least four weeks - I'll decide if I will post trailer pictures when I see it. It looks really good outside and most of the shots look good (as you may have noticed from my recent posts) with the exception of the rear hatch lip and the battery tray area. I am hoping I can get her road worthy and patched up for 1K - I am anticipating typical issues and hoping that it doesn't go much beyond that. POR will get another $50 Anyway …

I find this fascinating. Rhetorically speaking, are early production models worth that much more than a later 240Z? For those of us here, perhaps that's true, but to an "average" buyer, I'd think there's not much difference. Recently, I had my 1972 for sale. It's in far superior cosmetic shape, and it's numbers matching. Yet, I couldn't yield more than $3,500 for mine (a blessing in disguise - I am happy to keep mine). For me, $5,200 seems quite a lot for this car.

Hi Gang: Anyone looking for a 69 production year 240-Z? #485 with an 11/69 build date. Second owner, where the first was the Datsun Dealer. Looks rough, but might be in good enough shape to save. Anyone near Napa, California that could go inspect the usual rust area's? Not running nor started for years, reported with 37K miles and all documents from second lady owner.. Asking price of $5,200.00 seems in the ball park for an 11/ 69 Z. PM me if you are a potential buyer. FWIW, Carl B.

I've devised and coordinated my local club's (ZROC) so-called "Western Run" in the hills of Logan, Union and Champaign counties in central Ohio for five years now. This past Saturday afternoon, an absolutely clear and dry day, my wife and I were laying out this year's route to be driven this coming weekend. We were on Logan County Road 29 headed west. I'd never been on this section of road before, but it is reasonably wide and has a good paved surface. We were on the downhill part of the road and had entered a portion having an S-turn warning sign with a suggested 35 MPH speed. The initial lefthand portion was easily taken at, perhaps, 60 with no issues. We were on t…

Dumbest question ever, how do I get it on the AM band? The preset buttons are mostly labeled "AM", but only seem to push the dial around rather than switch bands... The owner's manual is no help, but I have figured out now how to adjust the bass/treble and sensitivity (I really want to listen to the cheesy Frank Sinatra station, Mexican oompa music, and dull religious talk shows as you can tell)

A friend in my former Subaru Club went to Rally Germany. Took these pictures. If you appreciate rallying, these old vintage cars are truely amazing to watch.
