I was looking through some old Zcar magazines this weekend and noticed classified ads for two prominent Zcars, both with an asking price of $15,000. The first was VIN #HLS30-00016 (#16 to those of us in the US and believed to be the first Z car sold to the public in North America) from the Nov/Dec 1994 issue of Zcar magazine (first issue). The second was Wick Humble's car that he restored in the well known book "How to Restore Your Datsun Z car" from the Fall 1996 issue. The ads are shown below with the numbers blurred out. So, which would you rather have? I know who has #16, and I assume that he bought it through this ad, but I wonder who has Wick Humble's car and w…

fwiw, I had a set of primo-condition 280Z guages that I got from an eBay auction, and since I replaced the one for the oil pressure, The indicator comes up right away, and hasn't been reading low since. I also cleaned the contacts on the sender, at the firewall, and at the guages (of course) , so all I can say is that I'm pretty sure the old gauge was worn out & reading low, albeit consistantly. The sender itself was replaced about a year ago, and didn't change the gauge reading so I don't think the old sender was faulty. I will probably replace the rest of the gauges now. Even the gauge faces were nice looking thxZ

So, today was another grueling job at the auto shop. We fixed the clutch, new brake fluid, tightened all vaccum lines and put new transmission oil in. And took off the stupid front bumper, (thinking about putting a grill on it instead) My auto shop teacher took it for a spin in the parking lot and said that its not getting enough air and that it needs a Mass Air Flow Sensor. So I was wondering if anyone has one that I can buy or have to let me know. It would be optimum to have it by Thursday...but not absolutely necessary. Anyways, just wanted to give a shout. Thanks.

Hello all. I just got back from sydney on the weekend and found this. I don't know what year it is, but has the twin lever choke set up. The car itself I have been told has not turned a wheel in 15 years and the guy who owns it stupidly won't depart wih it. unfortunately I think it's stuffed due to lack of care.

08-20-2008 08:04 PM Here’s an interesting specimen that’s been making the internet rounds. Perhaps unsatisfied with Nissan Yulon’s X-Link as a worthy flagship for a revival of the Datsun brand, someone calling himself Iacoski has offered this alternative. We’re not really feelin’ the GT-R front, but that side profile definitely recalls the S30 Z and looks good doing it, proving just how timeless the original shape was. In fact, we think it looks better than Nissan’s own leaked 370Z photo. What say you, yay or nay? [NihonCar] More...

OK , I removed the dash in my 72 so I could replace all of the bulbs in the dash. I replaced the dash, hooked everything back up and started the car, perfect except for one thing. I can not find the wires to the brake lights! Off of the brake pedal is a small switch with two wires that signals the brake lights to come on when pedal is pushed...I can not find the wires that are supposed to connect to this spot!! I looked all over...what happened. Can someone look at their Z and see from what direction those two wires come from? Firewall, upper dash, side of car ?? ? ? color of wires ??? any help greatly appreciated.

In Riverside, would you believe it. Anyway, 5 miles from my house. They've all been abandoned in an ancient used car lot and never touched for the five years I've lived here. It's VERY tempting to swipe some of the 240 bumpers off em for my 280, but swear to god I'm not going to do that. Seriously though, I REALLY want the convertible conversions (there are four or five of them on this lot, out of 15 Zs total, count em) Someone really should rescue a few, as none of em are that far gone at all... But I get first pick! A few non Z anomalies are around as well ...wtf. TR7 DHC, just like mine (albeit in less top notch trim, not that mine is) ...move a…

I found a 1974 260Z on craigslist the other day that I am interested in buying(link here http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/805107279.html). I have worked on cars from the 60s-70s before so I am pretty comfortable with them. I just wanted to know the main problem areas I should be looking for, and the right questions I should ask the seller. Thanks in advance.
