I was reading this write up today: I'm curious. If the bumpers (which seem like the biggest weight addition) were added in 1974 to the 260z, where did the extra weight come from in 1975, making the car go from 2,580 lbs to 2,875 lbs. Thats just shy of 300 lbs, which seems like an awful lot. Could this be the engine (2.8 vs 2.6)?

I am putting together my gas cap with new rubber flap. Does the flap go under the flange of the fill tube or between the fill tube flange and the metal ring. FSM is not specific and the "How to" book just says to make sure you install it. Early 260Z Thank you for the help, Skip Dawson

How would you design a new 240Z? I don't want to offend anyone but the 350/370Z just doesn't do it for me. When it came out I had high hopes but, even though it's a great car, it just wasn't a Z in the spirit of the 240's. And that was what I was hoping for. Anyway, here's my idea of a 21st century 240. Keep the styling of the original as much as possible, a few styling "cues" won't cut it with me. The original is a classically beautiful car. A few concessions as far the need to have 5 mph bumpers and such would obviously need to be made. A great example is the new Mustang. Modern yet unmistakably classic Mustang styling. Don't make it any bigger either. 4 wheel discs,…

just a thought... went to a local 'British' car show today (drove my 72 Z and parked in the fringes:)). saw some fine examples of MG's, triumphs, Austins, jags, minis, even a 100% mint restored 1958 Lotus elite S1 However, it was (again) pretty evident why our Z cars strained the british market here in the US (no offense to brit car owners!!). very evident was the technological stagnation of the brit cars. saw late 70's MG's and triumphs with carbs and 'older' electronics....while our Z's were fuel injected by then. several other areas on the cars seemed 60's-ish by engineering standards....by 1979-80 the Z was much more modern....just a thought.. not to mention the …

I just wanted to give you guys a little heads up on why you probably won't be seeing me around here as much! I'm going to be going to college in Souther California (Simi Valley) and heading down there on Saturday (the 9th). My parents and I decided that it would be best if I didn't take the Z down there and to leave it in their garage to prevent it from getting damaged or vandalized in the college campus parking lot. My original plan was to take it down, but my parents ended up convincing me that it would just collect lots dings and scratches from being in the parking lot, and I don't want to see that either. My dad gave me his new VW GTI that I will be taking down there.…

I suppose that one of the "joys" of living in Ohio is that I am relatively close by (~140 miles) to the two manufacturers of replacement body panels for our beloved cars: Mill Supply and Tabco. Because I've recently embarked on the rebuild of my original owner '72 and it will need a number of these parts (rockers, rear wheel arches and rear wheel housings), I have been looking at both company's Web sites and contacting them for info. I decided to get my parts from Tabco. When I called Tabco, I spoke with Ron Stelmarski (I'm assuming that's the spelling) and he is the operations manager, at the very least. Heck, he might even be the owner as I didn't press him for his …

where do i look for the infamous matching numbers on my 73 240z

Just looked at 1969 model HLS3000220. The car was an absolute basket case. It was so rusted that I could hardly tell the original color. The engine must have been rebuilt at some time because it had an E88 head. He's taking it to the crusher tomorrow. It was late and dark so I didn't get any other numbers from the car.
