Greetings everyone! About a month ago, I bought a beautiful 1978 280Z from the original owner here in Phoenix. Silver exterior and black interior. I wasn’t looking for one, but came across this Z and it was too good to pass up. This car has AC, 5 speed and the black pearl aluminum alloy factory wheels. The original owner took very good care of it and it was in exceptionally fine condition when I bought it. It’s been in Phoenix, Arizona for its entire life and it doesn’t have a spec of rust on it! It’s never even been in a minor fender bender. The metal and structure of this car is as straight and clean as the day it left the assembly line. The interior is almost …

Hello, all. My wife and I are contemplating a move to my birth state, California, or to North Carolina. What are the emissions requirements (i.e. a cut-off year) for old cars? Hmm. This could be a question for any state, couldn't it? In Texas, a car 25 years old or older need not take the emissions test. :classic: How about some other states....? Frank

Hi all, I just wanted to make all of you genuine guys out there aware of a Canadian scam artist that is lurking on ebay and who knows where else out there. He goes by the name Bluefairladyz and he has used me and many others to restore his car for free. He purchases items off ebay (in my case a 240z manifold and carb set worth $500.00) and then claims that they were never sent and in the end Paypal refunds his money at your expense, therefore leaving you without the money and the part. I proved to Paypal that I sent them, providing customs and postal documentation but he won the claim and scoffed about it. I then checked out his ebay feedback (go to www.toolhaus.org and t…

Hi there, This is my first post :-) I have to admit, I don't have a Zcar yet but plan to get one. I am just not sure where a trustworthy dealer can be found. I think many things can go wrong with a wrong dealer (and me being not yet very knowledgable about Zcars :-( I am from Switzerland. Some of my friends from the car club have a website where car enthusiasts show their cars. I just saw some excellent Zcars there. I wish I owned one of these. I particularly like the 1971 Datsun 240Z. What do you have to be careful about when purchasing such a car (if it is available :-) ? Are there any pitfalls? Thanks for your help! Regards Thomas

I've got a bunch of parts I would love to sell to finance my Z car. But I've always been hesitant to sell things I'd have to ship. Seems like a lot of hassle and like it would force me to keep the price low to get the items sold. And the lower the price the more likely it's simply not cost effective. Examples are the 3 piece spoiler my 81 ZX parts car has. Kinda cool and certainly worth something to someone but is it worth the hassle of trying to box it. Or the Gold 14" Enkei 92's my 75 Z had. No center caps so I wouldn't be asking alot but I'd have to get the slightly dryrotted tires off and then box up 4 wheels. Not sure I could make enough to warrant the effort. Then …

Took me 37.5 years to get enough courage to cover up the original paint. Got tired of looking at the years of abuse and road rash sustained on journeys stretching from Florida to Maine to Yellowstone Park in Wyoming to the Mojave desert in California. The dings, scratches and other sins were fixed and some rust areas repaired with real metal. Car is still relatively unmolested after 175,000+ miles but I did replace the original #903 blue with a 2007 vibrant color and add a new version of stripes which I like but will make the purists cringe. 11 weeks in paint shop + 3 weeks of sweat in my 98 deg garage to put it back together and here she is:

Hey folks, I know there is allot involved in answering this question but what kind of cost are associated with rebuilding your engine....(240Z) Just a general idea is all I'm looking for. Also not me doing it but a paid shop or mechanic. Thanks, Randy PS......My engine is fine, I'm just curious.

Hey everybody, I want to replace the brake master cylinder in my '74, and as I've said before, I'm still learning what the previous owner has put in it. On the master cylinder that's in there now, the bleeders are pointing to the right (engine). Unless the photos are mirrored or something, I've noticed that the bleeders are pointing the other way on the masters that I've been looking at getting. Also, while I'm here, is it safe to assume that a master cylinder that's listed as being for '72-'78 models will match up with a brake booster (8.5") for a '77 ,and, more importantly, that that combo will be all right for my '74? I have stock brakes. So, a 7/8" bore would be all …

I'm running the dealer installed AC on my 73 with a 81-83 compressor and Freeze 12 refrigerant. I recently picked up a Harbor Freight AC manifold gauge set http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=92649 and need to know the specs for pressure on both sides when the system is filled properly. I've searched using just about every combination of words I can think of, but so far nothing. Can anyone help me out? Also, assuming I need to add some more refrigerant, what is the proper procedure to do that? The manifold has a fitting to allow this, but is there a specific sequence? And just to confirm, is it added to the low pressure side? Any other words of advice and/or c…
