I received my new copy of MSA's catalog on CD yesterday. The main part is a 130MB searchable PDF. It appears to be exactly the same content as the latest printed version, but the prices and availability codes have been updated. I think that you have to request a copy on their web site, I don't think they'll be mailing them to everyone automatically. It is free, however. Here's a link to the request part: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/ZCAT2C

I am about to pick up a 71 240Z, and was wondering how everybody with origina engines in their Z's handle the lack of leaded gasoline? Do you add it to the mixture? Or just drive it regularly? Do you use regular gas or super unleaded? That thought just occurred to me as I was reading the 'how to build your L series engine" book.

Well, I have decided to stroke my L24. I just got off the phone with Rebello and quoted me $4,500 which I am willing to pay. Bumps power out to 220hp which is really all the power that I was looking forward too. It is pricey, for only 220hp, but that is what all I am wanting to do. Though, is there anyone on the East Coast for Datsun that is like Rebello? I really don't want to have to send my engine all the way over to California, and then have it shipped back. I will do it, but it would be much more convenient if I could just drive it somewhere here in the East Coast. I have called around to a few places, but I can't seem to get a hold of anyone, or find what I a…

Wondering if anybody can tell me what exactly came in the Tool Kit Jack Box from the Factory? Mine has the Jack, Wheel Chocks, Wrench Bag and a Mysterious Green Strap that I can't figure out what it would be for. Thanks for any help, Scott

I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with Bad Dog Parts. The only way I see to contact them about getting something from them is via email and I havent heard back from them. I am in need of one of their frame rail replacements as I am going to have a shop do some other metal work for me and would like them to do the frame rail at the same time. Is this a normal thing for them? Does anyone have an idea on where else to get this part if they dont contact me? Thanks

Upon reviewing all the new CAFE standards and the extremely strict emissions people will have to meet, it seems that besides all the current wonderful things the Z offers, it has yet another feather in its cap. Let me explain. With the feds clamping down on pure bred sports cars, they could very well cease to exist in the next 5-10 years. According to the new Cafe standards, Porsche and Ferrari must be at over 35 mpg by 2015, hardly possible. And while a company like Ferrari can just pass the fuel penalties over to the public (whats another $3000.00 anyway), companies like Porsche who mass produce cars simply cannot meet that standard and stay competitive in the US m…

If you think you guys pay good coin for your zeds, spare a thought for your KIWI members. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=156335203 That's NZ$31,000 so US$24,500 It may now be cheaper to buy a immaculate CA 73 240z, ship it back, convert it to RHD with my parts car than trying to find one. Supply and demand model working well here.

The Hunting Beach Concours is Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June 2008. They are accepting Datsun 240-Z's this year and looking to get more representatives for the Class on Sunday. They even have two Classes into which your "Classic Z Car" can be entered. "Concours" (for non-driven cars) and "Street" for pure stock 240-Z's that are driven weekends/pleasure. This is a significant show.. and a chance to show off your Classic Z Car. See: http://hbconcours.org/ Contact Bart McGrath at 714-960-2100 Many people have been working hard to get the Datsun 240-Z's into this type of event. So take the car cover off - and get out there... FWIW, Carl B.

I have been trying to find a clean 240Z for months. These things take a while, but I am getting frustrated on always finding Z's with huge holes in them on some place. I keep getting, OH, yeah, I did not see that hole in my own picture, sorry, its not that bad. Or, the car is sold, sorry. Then there are the Did I mention it does not shift into gear? HAHA. Thus is the joys of Z hunting. I am really looking forward to finding that Z with a good body and good guts. I am willing to pay a fair price for it, and do not expect to find a perfect show car for 5000 bucks. I am far more realistic. If anybody has or knows of a good quality 240Z for sale in the 8-11 thousan…
