Still needs a tune and bumpers and a myriad of other things, but I started it for the first time in 6.5 years (and since the body was restored) yesterday: Before the restoration, way back in 2011: Totally rusted out pass. floor pan and rockers, mismatched tires, faded non-original color paint, etc etc. I've done everything except the actual body restoration (welding, paint, etc). All the disassembly, reconditioning of parts, reassembly, etc. It's been a LOT of work, and it's not over yet, but... I just wanted to take a short victory lap. Thanks for all the support and great advice.

Hi all. I'm hoping you guys can help save me a trip back to the bodyshop for this. So I'm reassembling a 240Z with a restored body. During the painting process, the body guys installed and aligned the hood with the fenders and cowl BUT without the torsion springs in place. Now that I've got the torsion springs back in, they preload the front of the hood and pop it 3/8" or so above the line of the fenders. See attached image. Front-to-back and side-to-side alignment are perfect. The hinges are slid as far down as they can go using the 3 bolts. And the fenders and headlight buckets are pulled up as far as they can go in their bolt slots. Is ther…

Hello My 72 240z has window decals on each of the side quarter windows. On the passenger side is the BRE Datsun 240Z champion decal, which I am familiar with. On the driver side is a decal pictured in the attachment. Does anybody have any information about this decal and what it represents. just trying to,decide,if it stays or goes. If something Z or Datsun related from back in the day, I would probably leave it. Thanks Jim

Howdy, Drove the z yesterday, and no water temp readings on the gauge. So I checked the connection on the thermostat and all looked good. When I got home, I took a jumper wire to the wire to the sender to the shock tower, turned the key, and nothing. So I am thinking my gauge is bad. Did a quick look on eBay, not much there for 140lb gauge. My question is, can these be repaired? Is there someone fixing all 240z gauges or am I just going to be looking for another gauge? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello Still looking for a few parts. This time I am looking for used front and rear overriders for my early 72 Z. The ones on my car have been missing for many years, but were there long enough that you can still see the outlines on the bumper. Mostly any condition is acceptable…but no rusted ones. They will go on the car as is…only a little cleaning up…so as to match the original bumpers. As always, Thanks. Jim

I removed the rear bumper from my 240Z to replace the rubber trim pieces on the bumper ends and over riders. The 50 years of rust seem to have bonded the over rider attachment nuts to the studs. I've soaked them with multiple applications of PB Blaster for a few days, and they're still rusted on tight. Any suggestions for a better brand of penetrating oil? I did the front bumper rubber a couple months ago and all went much easier.
