I am applying for collector status on my 280z. It is all original except for the Panasport rims. How can I prove that these are "era correct"? Thanks

Here is my 240Z a few minutes before I drove her off to the body shop earlier today. She's going to receive some minor body work before being gently massaged, rubbed down, and then shot with a new coat of 904 white. If you look in the passenger window, you ought to be able to make out a BRE spoiler tucked inside. That will be installed on the rear of the car, as well. I'll update this with some 'after' pictures when I get her back home.

Are there any Z shows in the New England area? I never see any on the calendar on this site, and I couldn't find anything by googling.

I've got an L28 for sale and I'm trying to figure out how to assess the value. If I take the cam cover off, what shoudl I look for exactly? I was told by the previous that it was rebuilt. What signs would there be under the cam cover? Do most aftermarket cams have a manufacturers marker and if so where shoudl I look? What can look for on the head to see if it has been re-worked? Thanks for the help. MIchael

Hand Throttle 1 2

I bought a NOS hand throttle recently and went to install it in #32 this weekend. I noticed that there was still an original plastic grommet in the accerator pedal mounting point and there was still a screw in the cable bracket. I have read that some of the early cars came to the US with hand throttles, but they were removed either at the port or by the dealer. I guess it was just easier to cut the throttle cable and leave the grommet and screw behind when they removed it. Anyway, I think it is nice that is it restored to the way I believe it left the factory now. -Mike

Well...short for a long story. My new Samden A/C compressor died in March after a complete refurbishing of the original system. I have a new compressor installed since last week and God Bless me that it is before the peak hot season in Vegas. It blows 50F at the outlets. Pretty good for a vintage ..original system rebuilt with R-12.

A nice (being a subjective term) 11/77 280 with a fairly solid battery tray area, complete (albeit messy) interior, solid frame rails and floorpans, excellent glass, and a mostly solid body. Certainly not rust free, but possibly worth considering. The owner of the yard is able to sell the entire vehicle (assuming he can find the title). I must admit I am tempted by this one, as well as a different Datsun on the lot (KPL-610 10/72)... The lot has all sorts of goodies, a great Karmann Ghia shell, Porsche 914, two Fiat x1/9s, Fiat 850 (pretty sad), and an S14 240sx, among other goodies. I ended up getting a set of Z hubcaps ($40!) even though I don't need them, but I did…

I took the pipe from the brake booster off of the intake manifold and sucked on it. I couldn't make a vacuum, and I could hear the inline valve fluttering. Is my booster leaking, or is it suppose to work that way for some reason. I guessing the boosters got a rust hole in it and that would really explain a lot of things!

Looking at a 240Z claimed to be a 6/73, but the VIN is listed below.. Does this make sense?
