Hey everybody, first off, I just wanted to thank everybody who has helped me out with good advice. I'm a new Z owner and own a fixer-upper, so I've needed a bit of help lately! It turned out that what was wrong with my clutch was...the retainer clip on the clutch fork (that clips to the pivot ball) was bent ever-so slightly and wasn't doing its job. I'm fine with getting a new clutch since the one I pulled off looked ancient. Kinda figured it'd end up being something small... Anyway, I'm having various electrical problems which are very similar to the ones described over at The Z Garage (http://datsunzgarage.com/engine/ -- scroll down to 'Alternator Upgrade') I own a '74…

Well it's been a little over a year since I trailered my baby from my sister's garage in Richmond, VA to my mechanic in Sterling, VA. 12 weeks became 12 months; patience..patience..patience....... The engine is near completion and here are the details. 2.8L bored .040" over, balanced and cc'd Ross forged pistons (strange looking huh?) Ported N47 head Isky 290/.490" cam Retuned SUs with SM needles MSA 6-2 header, 2.5" exhaust, Borla XR-1 muffler. I'll try to post a sound clip in the future.

Well, I everything taken off of the motor. Going to be renting a engine hoist from Autozone here soon to get my motor pulled. I know that I want to get my head taken in so that the valves can be ported for 280z valves, and am thinking that I am just going to take the entire engine in to get machined, plus go a head and get the carbs rebuilt. Though, I want to take my engine to a place were they know what they are doing, especially with the L series engine. Does anyone know of a place around here that specializes in rebuilding and machining L engines? Atlanta, Nashville, Knoxville, Birmingham, ect. is all fine by me.

I am going to guess that the answer to my question is different with each show, but generally what is considered "modified" if you want to enter your car in a class. My 71 has Panasports and an aftermarket muffler, that's about it. Would it be considered "stock" or "modified". Thanks, Randy

Just wanted to give a shout out to everybody, I'm new to the club and don't know how it works yet so please be patient. I just bought a 74 260z with 18,000 original miles on it. It also has an automatic transmission which I am told they only made a few of. Car also has factory air and is in pretty good shape, but I'm going build her up good again. Car also has bezels on the headlights which I was told was a factory option. I am looking for a dash, Also if anybody knows more about the number of automatics produced I would appreciate all the help I can get. Chow for Now.

I have a 1973 240Z that I am restoring. The tag on the driver's door frame has a stamp of 12/72 and a number 139079. Can someone tell me what this information is saying about my car? Thanks.

FINALLY got my beautiful Z out for the first time today and for those who read my old thread "I need a Morale Boost" I'm now happy to report that my strong love for the hobby has returned after the long depressing winter. Stronger than ever :D:D After I got my baby out today, I brought her home and gave her a good thorough bath and got her shining like a new diamond again and then went cruising. While on my drive I stopped and snapped some photos of her to share with my fellow Z friends Thanks all for helping me get through my long depressing winter season Now next weekend I'll be doing all the tune up stuff like changing fluids, coolant flush ect.

hey all, has anyone done the A/C refrigerant conversion. if so, what is entailed? any aftermarket suppliers...good/bad. also, anyone in NJ do this type of work? i have a 77Z. the system runs fine, (on/off switch just broke today...see classifieds!) but i see a lot of foam/air flowing through the site glass in the receiver/drier. it seems to just need a charge, but i know the R-12 is NLA. thanks!!!
