My VIN is RLS30-064858. All of the threads I've searched have had VINs starting with HLS30-. Are all of them 240Zs? Because mine is a '74 260Z. I'm trying to find out if mine is a late model or an early model 260.

I was bleeding the brakes on the 240z, everything was going smoothly with the pedal becoming more and more firm each time. When I did the rear left disaster struck; the brake bleeder valve snapped off. It appears to still be in the "closed" position because no fluid is leaking out, so I guess it could be worse, but I am at a loss of what to do. It is nearly flush with the surrounding metal. Has anyone ever had this happen? What do I do about it?

Hey all, I just found a neat way to repair the steering wheel center/horn button. Mine would not stay on. When I flipped it over there were three cracks in the plastic. I figured some plastic model glue would fix it right up. After carefully applying the glue I was faced with having to hold it until the glue set up. Not being a real patient person I needed a clamp quick. My wife is in class today so I headed for the kitchen. I thought if I could find a bowl or something it would hold all sides equally. I found a 2 cup clear measuring cup with a spout. The sides are tapered nicely and the part fit perfect. Put it inside helped my son the 7 year old clean his room and it wo…

So I'm going to go ahead and buy a new clutch, along with the master and slave cylinders, and I just wanted to see if any of y'all have any recommendations. I have a 74 260 running an L28, with a 5-speed. I don't race it or anything--much. Just gradually restoring it since it's a definite fixer-upper, previously owned by a so-called 'enthusiast.' So, any clutches that y'all have put in yours that you really like? I'm mainly debating between the Centerforce I and just the dealer one. Any thoughts? I know it's not a big deal, I just like making sure what I buy is good...

OK, dumb question time... I'm sizing an A/C system for my 240Z. Niether of my previous Z's had A/C, so I'm working a little in the dark. Both Vintage Air and Hot Rod Air have several different size condensers available, but the smallest is 12" x 20". That covers about 70% of the radiator's functional area. Without any previous knowledge to fall back on, that seems too big. What size were the condensers on the original "dealer installed" systems? Thanks in advance for your input. Julio

NewB here is cali... need everyone's input. I have the opportunity to get a very nice condition 78 280z with around 90K miles on it or a 83 280zxt with about 50K miles on it. Both are in great condition, I really just wanted to get everyone's input on which might be a better daily driver and reliable car. I know the 280z would normally be the answer, but then again the ZXT only has 50k miles on it... Help...

Actually got it running a month or so ago, just now getting around to posting From what I can tell, it has a complete '81 or '82 2.8 long block (not a 2.8 short block and 240 head as it was supposed to have, but oh well) w/ stock SU's bolted on it. Runs great, as long as the cold start lever is pulled all the way on Needs richer needles, which ones should I get you think? I remember reading that there were only like 2 needles that work good on 2.8's, one of them being a British SU needle. The head has N47, which I believe is a '81 or '82 Maxima head, and therefore probably the whole engine. It does have a 3-2-1 header on it. BTW this is in my '72 240Z 4-spd.

I'm shamelessly promoting some items I have up on eBay. Search using my username 'ezzzzzzz'. Among other things there is a P90, E88, and Maxima N47 (MN47) head available.

First of all - Thanks for the great forum! I have been reading and learning A LOT!!! Sorry for the huge post. But it is the "Open Discussion" section after all... Plus, I figured that I would document it for easy future reference and progress tracking. So... I've had a chance to dig into the car a little bit. I bought it for $800 with a BUNCH of spare parts. I feel like I got a VERY good deal What do you think??? My dilemma is that I will soon have a 70k mile LT1 from my Impala that needs a home (putting a 500hp 385 stroker small block in it). Was going to put it in the Z, but now that I know that the Z is all original, I am having second thoughts about moles…
