Tomorrow I am going to look at a 78 280z. The ad said that it was last smogged and registered in 2003 and was stored since then because it needed new brakes and the owner didn’t have the time or cash to deal with it. I live in California so I’m hoping for no rust but what else should I be worried about with a car that has been sitting around for 5years?

OK Im restoring my 72 Z and am having problems with the stereo. It is the original and I get VERY low volume from the rear speaker. It does tune different stations, it does have volume control but it is VERY low...can barely hear it from the front. Ive tried 3 different speakers so Im pretty sure thats not it. Ive put 6 hours into it so far...any ideas?????? Thanks

I attended the Barrett Jackson Auction in West Palm Beach, Fl on Thursday, March 27 and viewed most of the cars on the lot. Surprised to find this '72 240Z (HLS30-74204) under one of the tents. It is scheduled for the auction block on Sunday. Will be interesting to see what it sells for. My general observation during Thursday's auction and review of cars sold so far is that prices are not as wild and out-of-control as in prior years. Lots of nice vehicles but I didn't see the bidding wars escalate into 6-figures on any of the 60's muscle cars. Signs of the downturn in economy.

I upgraded my 1973 240Z, which already had a 5 speed installed, from the stock differential to a R-200 3:90 differential. Now my speedometer is reading at least 10 mph faster than it did before. I found that Courtesy Nissan sells the replacement gear needed to fix the problem - but, I don't know which one I need to buy to get my speedometer reading correctly again. Hoping someone here might know the answer - I did run several searches on the forums (which is how I found the Courtesy Nissan reference)...

My company is sending me to our parent company in Sagimahara on March 10 and I was wondering if any of you on this forum have any suggestions as to things to do or places to go for a car guy seeing as how I will be there for 6 weeks! I'd like to go to the Toyota museum and see a 2000GT and go to a Nissan museum and see some rare cars. Also does anyone know where I might have a decent chance of finding some NOS parts for a 240Z (headlight covers, ZG flares, S20 Longblock hehe j/k, etc)? Thanks in advance to anybody that can help!

I have a 1982 280ZX. Other than a factory repair manual what is the best "shade tree mechanic" repair manual out there? Chilton, Haynes, or?

OK 72 240z. Runs excellent, like new except for one thing. When Im in stop and go traffic and shes a bit warm (not hot) I start getting fuel delivery problems. Its like getting air in the fuel line. Im running just a mechanical fuel pump. Ive looked under the hood out of curiosity to see what is going on and the fuel filter is sucking big gulps of air along with my fuel...even on a full tank of premium. Question: Why is it happening only when the car gets warm?? Where is the air coming from?? How can I fix it?? ...Ive tried 2 different fuel pumps, no change. Is this vapor lock?? Why at the fuel filter???

Howdy Folks, Well, the 71 FINALLY made it all the way home today. I had to store it at a friends tow yard while I finished up the rear brakes on the 72.. Thought I would share some pictures them side by side.. more fun to follow =)

Yes, it's a '73, and there's a whole lot left to the imagination. But if it's even half as good as described, this is a real buy. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/car/621047827.html

I have a pile of parts I'm ready to get pretty. These parts will go on a 73 240 that is in no way original anymore - I bought it that way. I mean this car has gills for heavens sake. So I have no guilt pangs about blinging it up a bit. I will soon be making a trip to the powder coater and plating shops and I'm not sure which way to go on a few parts. I know some of it is personal preference, but for other items there may be functional reasons to go one way or another that you guys with more experience out there would know better than I. I threw together a list of parts - I know I forgot some stuff, but it's a start. Here is my list: Powder Coat: ------------- Contro…

My little girl outside of the garage just for a pict. Suspension brakes and wheels are ready just waiting for a good engine. I really need to get a good L series engine for her. I have different engine choices but I would really like to drop the L series with tripples, headers, e ignition system, camshaft, valves, pistons. I have the flyweel, tranny, headers, manifold for doubles(but I want tripples), exhaust system, clutch, etc. Hope you like what you see.
