Hey all, Pretty much all my interior along with the dash has been taken out of my car. My entire AC system, injector blower, cruise control and a few other chunks of weight have been taken out of the engine bay. Are there any big disadvantages in taking out so much weight? (apart from hardly any traction in the rain) -- Is there anything I should do to help with functionality without throwing sandbags in the back of the car? Just curious, Thanks for any info.

Hey guys, I just got my 260Z back from the local shop the other day. It was a basic diagnostic, since she didn't run in the first place, and the guy had some very bad news for me. He said that at some point the engine got really hot and the rings collapsed, she's got very bad compression, there's no fuel getting to the cylinders, which probably means that my carbs are gummy (as well as my fuel lines). "If you want, I could do a ring job, but I don't touch carbs." Would it be worth it to get the engine rebuilt? Because there's a '74 260Z motor on craigslist that I've had my eye on, that comes with a 5-speed, for only $300. Better to keep the original? Or more value in a di…

My heater motor doesn't blow air at all when I turn the heater switch on. I checked the fuse box and they are all OK. The connections at the blower are OK. What else may I look at?

This thing looks like a steal. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1982-DATSUN-280ZXT-87k_W0QQitemZ260208247673QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260208247673 Pictures look like it is in good shape, Turbo, T-Tops, 87,000 miles, for just $2,800. This thing needs to get checked out. Head gasket is blown, but at that price, still seems killer. As long as their isn't rust and everything else is pretty nice, if I had $2,800 I would go get it this second. 280zx Turbo T-Tops has been on my list of my Datsun collection, and this would fill in just nicely.

I had an extra valve cover in the garage that wasn't to pretty, so I thought I'd fix it up as best I could to get it back to looking stock and thought it would make a fun little weekend project. It was pretty oily and greasy along with what appeared to be some oxidation on the outside. I degreased the inside of it with engine degreaser with small wire brushes and got the inside looking much cleaner and then flushed it out thoroughly. I then wet sanded the outside of it with 1000 grit sand paper to clean up the oxidation and smooth everything out. I painted it with Dupli color engine enamel, the closest match that I could find to be original. Any how, I'm pretty pleased w…

So it turns out my new purchase 1972 240z is turning out to be less and less a candidate for a V8 everyday. I say this because I keep noticing how original it is and thought Id ask you purists over here about what you would do. So I think the guys at HybridZ are a bit more into modifying the z's into fire breathing speed machines ( not a bad thing necessarily) than dealing with what I have bought. So here it is. 72 240z/orange. all original, stereo, power antenna, sales slip, warranty book, jack and tools in original plastic, unmodified, original engine/trans, original everything as far as I can tell. Ill try and post pics.... Is it clean enough to keep as origina…

Well I think the time is getting closer and closer. We've had the car since 1982 and are the original owners of it. My car has roughly 140,000 miles on it and has visible rust and other flaws. It runs pretty solidly and really hasnt had many mechanicle problems. Well, i was looking around for ads on any 280z's and really couldnt find any. My question is what route would be best for selling the car and what kind of price should i expect? There is a picture of the car in my profile pic and i have more but i dont know how to post them. Any help is much appreciated and sorry if this sort of "Ad" persay isnt allowed.
