Why would the fuel pump only operate when the key is in the 'start' position cranking it over? As soon as the Z starts, the fuel pump actually turns off. This is a new low pressure pump for carb conversion that works fine. This, verified by connecting to an external 12v power source. It ran great and I was even able to start dialing in the carb. What gives?

Hi people, I just have the free time to put in the new parts which I was waiting for a long time.. they arived and I started taking off old ones a replacing them, shocks, springs and rear brake kit.. I was with my fiend next to the lifted car, he was pulling the shock absorber out and nicey! oil ws dripping, for the first moment I was glad to se that, because I thaught that the previous owner was intelligent and he put oil inside the tube for betteh heat transfer.. but suddenly my friend was laughing at me and he told me that this oil is from the strut itself:dead: then I told myself I a real idiot to think of that sice I noticed many stupid things before from the car …

Just got the notice that a set of Black pearl mirrors that I was bidding on went for over $200. Am I nuts or are they the same ones I have on my car - dealer installed type? They certainly look like it. (Earlier described as Darth Vader Mirrors) Anyway it'll be a long time befor I pony up that much + shipping ($25).

I hate taking the Z out in the rain, but it's a necessary situation because she's my DD. So I'm of course worried about rust. Well, I don't have the means to improve protection on the undercarriage with POR-15 or undercoat (although that is on the list for the summer). I've found one thing that gives me a bit more peace of mind. Ever seen those commercials for "Zorbeez"? Well my girlfriend picked up an "ABSORBER" cloth at Fred Meyer recently cuz she thought I'd like it for the Z. Let me tell you, this thing is amazing! I am going to be receiving some paint that matches the interior Butterscotch color for my 71. I am going to be painting the plastic panels and wanted to know is it as simple as going to Home Depot and buying a sprayer to apply. I know rattle cans would be easier, but all I have will be pints. Has anyone ever done this and were the results what you wanted. Thanks, Randy

Finally had a chance to mess with it again the other day. Since the battery cables are shot, I hooked the jumper cables from my car straight to the starter, sprayed some starting fluid in both carbs, spun it over and vroom! fired right up and ran a few secs. Did it again and same thing, sounds good, no knocking or rattling, no smoke. Now that the Belvedere left for it's new home today, I can bring the 240 up to the house and start going over it to get it running and driving on it's own. Needs fuel lines cleaned out, fuel hose replaced, make sure the rad holds pressure and put coolant in it, make sure the tank is clean etc. Yay for new projects

i have a 77 280zx and cant get the fuel pump to come on or the injectors to pulse. ignition system is working, can run on spray carb cleaner.changed ecu, but no luck. can anyone offer suggestions?
