This is a mistake I'll never make again. I just painted my engine compartment, and before I did, I took all of the fasteners and everything else on the firewall and inner fenders off. I put everything (except the rubber, plastics and electrical stuff) into enamel reducer, figured I'd get everything really clean before I put everything back together. So at the end of the night, I put the fasteners (and the enamel reducer) into my cleaning tray. Thought I'd let them dry off in the tray. The tray I usually only use with mineral spirits. You probably know where this story is going. I get home from work yesterday, and go out to work, and I find my cleaning tray melted to …

I recently aquired a 70 240z. I know it has been tinkered on and its not stock. It has an E31 head (I know there rare, any info would help) and an N42block (was told it was a 260, I think its a 280 with that identifyer). I know the head is good to have although I don't know why. And I think that N42 means its an L28 block. Am I right??? It also has a 4bb holly, would I be better off rebuilding some su's until I can throw a tripple webber set up on it???? I am new to this, this is a hand me down project from my dad and he is no longer around, so now I have questions!!! any info would be good!

Probably not worth checking, they are listed with no pictures showing 10/69 and 11/69 build dates. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-Datsun-240Z-Vin-00305-11-69-Prod-Num-match-project_W0QQitemZ150205829132QQihZ005QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-Datsun-240Z-Vin-00051-10-69-Prod-Num-match-project_W0QQitemZ160198806716QQihZ006QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Sensible? Guys: For all intents, #248 is done. Now I have to clean out/clean up the garage and try to get things back to normal :cross-eye. Several of you have asked if I had any of the emblems left from #248; I ended up with a few, several of which are the earliest solid metal design. In the coming days I'll be listing quite a few parts - some that would appeal to those restoring an early Z, others more to the HybridZ owner. All of the parts are up (or going up) on ebay (just look for user id Dat240zg). If you have any questions, shoot me an email. Bryan Dat240zg

Hi All,I recently bought a '73 240z in need of many repairs... I would like to get it up on jack stands.* My question is - What is the best way (the steps) to jack up the car onto jack stands on all four corners.* What end/side do you start with and where do you end?* Just as importantly... where do you place the jack stands.* This appeares to be a very "well discussed" issue on this and other forums.* There are no really clear photos, pictures or diagrams that I have found showing the exact points of support under the car.* I'm just a new guy with a million questions... and I don't want to get squished under my car before I get a chance to drive it!:nervous:THANKS!!!

Hey all! Need some advice...After 2 tanks of gas I noticed my fuel was still real orangey-brown. Drained the tank (also orangey-brown gas), so I figured it was crud in my tank (and probably fuel ines) that was making the mess. So last week I pulled off my gas tank and have been working on getting it prepped for tank sealer. I noticed some magenta/red colored stuff along the sender hole, and when I peered into the tank via filler hole, this is what I saw... This red stuff is in filler-hole (passenger) side of the tank (a single baffle blocks left and right sides), and there's none of this stuff along the walls (that I can see) There is surface rust and varnish-type c…

I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a set of fuel lines for a 260z, the ones on my car are rusted at the fuel tank. Or if anyone knows where to find straight fuel line so I can bend it. Thanks

Ok...will make this short. I have a 1972 240z....the one that initially got me hooked on this site. Well, time and money constraints have helped me to arrive to the conclusion that......it ain't gonna happen. The project has been on hold for months, and it looks like the final cost after sheet metal repairs etc. would put me way beyond what it would have cost me to purchase a solid car from the start. You have heard it here a million times before....and it's true. Start with a structurally sound car to begin with. Upholstery and engine can always be remedied, but the most important thing is a good solid base. Anyway, I am getting ready to part it. I am unsure which route …

Hello to all, Having a little trouble deciding what to do. My son purchased a 74 260. Knowing it needed some work I towed it to the garage, put it up on stands and started to go through everything. I am new to the z cars but I am wondering as to why all the rust? I need to put new floor pans, the fuel lines are rusted, brake lines are shot as to alot of other things. We did take the rear control arms off ( tough job ) replaced all front and rear bushings with a Energy Suspension kit. The engine was rebuilt when we got the car but was out, now on a stand. Is it worth to replace the floor pans, fuel lines and do all the work? I am capable of doing these things, and this is …
