I'm installing my headlight covers (finally!!!!) and I'm reluctant to drill holes in my Z car. However, I don't know if I'd trust that double-sided acrylic sticky tape that comes with them at 120mph on a windy highway. What do you think? any one have horror stories?

Hey, I am getting a '75 on Friday. It just kind of fell in my lap. A friend got a divorce and lost his garage. He will be using mine...actually I am paying $700.00 for her. I have known her since 1997. The owner basically bought her, drove her around a bit and parked her outside, covered in Houston for about 5 years. This is what has happened to her since: Surface rust around fender wells. One hole in passenger floor board, about the size of a marble. Weathered paint. Mold throughout the interior. Has not been started since 2002. Not stored properly. Basically, in order for her to become decent, like her new sister, I have to strip her down completely, again …

Hi All! Both doors on my 1978 280Z were impossible to unlock with the key. Locking worked fine. Upon removing the door lock cylinders, I found that there was excessive wear on both of the cylinders because the lever which actuates the unlocking mechanism rode up on the cylinder due to play between the lever and the cylinder. It turns out that the cylinders can be swapped between the left and right doors, if the levers are interchanged. This allows the unlocking mechanism to work and because of the torque on the levers, the locking mechanism works fine too. It helps to lube all moving parts and to install 0.010" shim washers under the spring clips which hold the levers …

I just bought a 1973 240Z all stock except for a 5speed. I plan on striping it down to the metal inside and out, but leaving the mechanical alone (except for a tune up) for now. Any advice about how to look for a good body shop for this kind of work? Sincerly, AggieZ

Good evening. I just took a few photos of the floor boards in my '71 240z. Wanted to run it past you guys and see what you feel needs to be done. If it is patchable, a tearout, or anything you recommend. There is a decent size hole on the passengers side floor board, but looks like it is limited to that one area. I can tell you that the frame rail below is shot, but doesn't look like the whole floor board is. Also what do you think of the drivers side? There is surface rust, but not able to find any holes. Look over the photos and give me your thoughts, suggestions, advice etc etc. I am fairly new to this site and have found it a great resource. Thank you for …

I saw an interesting Datsun hood ornament on eBay.... Is this something "rare" as claimed by the seller, or a paint job done by someone after-the-fact? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240z-Blue-and-Red-Hood-Emblem-Rare_W0QQitemZ350009601849QQihZ022QQcategoryZ33643QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Also interesting to look at the other stuff offered by this seller... a spare tire for a small fortune, a trailer hitch....

OK Zep has just finished as of this afternoon USA time)it's first show together since 1980. Just imagine how much Led Zeppelin may have payed on the radio or tape deck in your Z back in the day. Lets see my car is an early 71, so the fourth album hadn't been released yet, but I can imagine some Zep must have made it onto it's AM radio. Communication Breakdown maybe ?? Whole Lotta love? As far as rock goes , if your car IS A 240-280z it must have had some Zep played on board during the era! OK maybe I'm being too nostalgic. I'll go away now.

I've been a member of HybridZ for a while and was just told by administrator there to tell you guys about my new Z. He said it was a early and rare car and people on this forum might enjoy it. It is a 1970 240z that has a VIN # of HLS30-01542. It was made in 1/70. I got it for $200 and drove it home fine. It has some wiring issues so as the key won't start it, and the lights are all kinda screwy. I plan on restoring the Z. Don't have much money since I am in high school, so I'll be taking it one step at a time. I took some cell phone pics when I got it home. Tell me what you guys think.

This year in Ottawa (Motto: 8 months of winter, 4 months of tough sledding) winter came early. A few things on my to-do list didn't get accomplished, including putting away the 83. Those of you with sharp eyesight will no doubt recogize that the Zed is the lump on the left. The car on the right is my daughter's Saturn. Wishing everyone all the best for the holidays. Peter
