Here's what I'm up against. My car runs like crap, the carbs are way out of tune. I'm planning on just getting it running for now. What I'm left with after it runs is a 37 yr old engine with 115k that most likely needs a rebuild before I can have fun with it, a head than needs to be rebuild so it can reliably run on unleaded, a 37 yr old transmission with 115k that hasn't been rebuilt....again not knowing how strong it is for its age. The car is a numbers matching 70 #6802, so it's early. Considering the cost of a correct stock rebuild vs a swap that would give me more power with a little more cost, is it that bad doing this to such an early car? I'm budgeting ~$3000 on a…

He mentioned parts cars and I've seen a bunch of those lately. I have the room at my house for parts cars and I have run by quite a few cars for $300 or less this week. The front fenders and light buckets , hood, most of this stuff survives rust free. Motor parts , carbs, lots of stuff. Do you think a man can buy a parts car say for $300 or less and make his money back + some? I know where there are at least 15 old Z cars laying around. It would be fun to save what parts I can and use that money to save up for a Z-car. How much are these parts worth? What parts are more in demand than others? Where do you guys buy your body parts? Where can I see what's being charged ou…

Doesn't appear to be too far gone, needs some rust repair, but would make a great restoration canditate in my opinion. Since it's got such low mileage, I don't think I'd restore it, I'd just get it to the point where it's driveable again and have an all orginal Z. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/71-datsun-240z-240-z-series-low-miles-original_W0QQitemZ260159366371QQihZ016QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I have found a 1976 280z for sale that needs to be restored, I went to look at it and there is almost no rust on the body, paint is toast though, it has an unverifiable 15000mi on the car. second owner. the car has sat up for quite a while and a rat made a feast out of the wiring in the engine bay, the interior is rough, but it is all there, there is surface rust on the windshield defroster panel and key start. It is a manual trans with A/C I can get the car for 300.00, I am not afraid of replacing the harness. and It seems that a z car with no rust is like a gift from the gods. I want to buy this car for a long term project, I know Toyota's really well and I own a 1…

YO~ I was wondering should I sell one of my 70's ANSA Resonators and use the proceeds to buy another ANSA in a different style I don't have yet :beard: . Or should I pony up the funds to buy the new ANSA out of pocket and still keep this one in the collection too. I'm trying to save money still for a 1970 Z hence my delema at hand. I like the Dual Stack Slash Style and kind of don't want to sell it. So it might go up on EBAY if I decide to keep my Z funds . These are photo of my ANSA. The one i'm thinking of selling is still in Factory vacumed sealed shrink wrap. More photos of it here http://s170.photobucket.com/albums/u280/Wingzr0/ANSA%20RESONA…

Help! I have a 1971 240z, and 2 times now, while winding up rpms on takeoff, have had the factory fan push into the radiator. I replaced the motor mounts and trans. mount, and it did it again yesterday, as I was pulling out of a cruise-in! how embarrasing! There is hardly any space between the fan and radiator. I tried to get an elec. fan after the first blowup, and could not find one that would fit in that tight space. Here is my questions for the experts: Has anyone else had this happen? Can the elec. fans go in front of radiator on a 71 Z? Anybody have an idea on how to proceed? The car comes home on a trailer today. Thanks for your help, Craig

Heres my dilemma: I have a '72 Im refreshing and a late hatch and glass. I found a '71 for parts and have a very good condition 71 hatch with vents and early glass. My 72 hatch is all banged up. It makes sense for me to use the better hatch. Should I have the body shop fill in the vents, and use the later glass to give it that '72 look, or leave the vents and use early glass but be incorrect in mixing my earlies and lates. Just trying to stir some dialogue here on this and get some opinions..
