I have owned a 73 Z for a couple of months. It runs great, but needs a lot of interior work and some exterior work. The engine was rebuilt a couple of years ago and the AC was removed. There are several hoses that are cut off from the interior and some metal tubes in the engine compartment that terminate and have open ends. I would like to hire a mechanic to go through the car with me and tell me what I have, what it would take to reinstall AC, etc. Can anyone recommend a good Z mechanic in St. Louis?

Hello Z members, it's a pleasure for me to be among this group. I have a short story and a few questions to run by you guys.... I bought a classic car, eventhough I don't know anymore than I did in high school automotive class. But I figured "Hey - you're getting married, soon you're gonna need a reason to get out of the house and a reason to stay out." Maybe some of you can relate. So I bought a 1972 Datsun 240z. After seeing one on the autotrader in Canada, test drove it and a week later I bought one that was half the price. The major difference was that the second had more surface rust on the bumper and the floor pans were bondo-ed, but on the good side the engi…

Hi all. Been lurking here for awhile. I want to purchase a 70-78 Z. I'm not fond of the ZX's. There are 2 within 20 miles of my place currently for sell. A 260z with rusted floors but everything just about it solid (rails, battery, tirewell, fenders, rockers...etc) Just 2 big holes in the floors. Runs but needs some serious tuning. Haven't driven it yet but would before purchase. It's got it's original L26(?) and the smog carbs have been replaced with 2 weber DGV's. It's an automatic (much rather have the 4 speed) Been repainted atleast once. Originaly blue now a burgandy. I can't find bondo in the usual places. Window channels seem solid but the seals have gaps so it wo…

Wow. I just got back from Tampa on a 2 day trip and wow. I swear, every time I drive through Florida and will see at least a dozon 1980's 300zx's. All in great looking shape on the outside at that too. Plus I usually spot one or two in a dealers lot waiting for another owner. Though anywhere else I go, or even currently live, you will be hard pressed to spot one anywhere. How did these things get so popular in Florida? It is like the only reason why I enjoy going to Florida. When I go down here it makes me want to get a 300zx right now.

Hi, I just saw the following ad on craigslist: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/mcy/391863155.html I'm a complete noob when it comes to all things z. I'd love to know anyone's thoughts on things to look for when I go to see the car (bearing in mind that while I am eager to learn/do more I'm still very inexperienced in car mechanics ) I'd also love to get general advice on the pros / cons on getting a 280z. I want to get one just because I love the look idea / of it. However.... I need it not to be a risky / troublesome investment. I need a car, however I'm an actor (ie brokeish) and also don't know how long I will be staying in the states (although it would be …

A big thank you to everyone on this site who has helped me during my time of need. I would like to personally thank Arne, Beandip, Carl Beck and jmortensen for all of their help (a big thank you to Beandip, aka Gary, for use of the spindle pin puller). The car has been on blocks since July 2006. I was refurbishing the entire suspension assembly for the front and back: new rotors, reman calipers, shocks, spings, ball joints, tie rods, bushings, straighten a warped oil pan, painting all components, new sway bars, new-to-me transmission, new-to-me differential, etc. I have limited time each night and I am a perfectionist at heart, so I only wanted to do this once. I too…

The other day I out and about and drove by the Salvation Army's main store in Denver looking for anything of intrest..and guess what I found. A faded forest green 73 240 with very very little rust I saw two holes in the floor boards the passenger side being the biggest at the size of a Apple or cloes to that. other than that it is very straight the hood has been hit and front bumper is gone. the back one looked good. other than the hood the body looks nice. I could not get into the car but from the window not bad the oem color was a light green. It has a auto tranny. ZX 14" wheels with flat 225/60/14's The only notes I saw on the window was bad fuel lines. At first they…
