Guys: I've posted a few times regarding #248 and the restoration process, but thought I'd put it all together in one big post. Last summer, I was looking for parts for my ongoing rebuild of #1793. I happened on a post advertising an "early Z with parts" for sale in the DFW area - price was $1500. I called them up and this is what I was told: car was #248, was stripped for a rebuild and here was the parts list: brand new banks twin turbo V8 kit, brand new Scarab complete setup, brand new detail parts (emblems, interior parts, brand new Scarab suspension setup, and the list went on and on....) Here's where it got a little weird. All of the parts were purchased in 19…

I am in the process of putting an L28 in my 260Z but I am not going to use the EFI. Everything should be there inluding the manifold. I am picking my Z up hopefully this Saturday so I wiil have more details once I have the parts in hand. If anyone is interested let me know. The guy I got the engine from also has a cmplete body from either a 72 or 73 240z that he is selling as well as a bunch of misc parts from that Z and from a 75 280z. He is sending me a list so when I get the list I will put the items on the site so we can look at what is available. Chris

I am embarrassed to have this sort of description in my area. Some highlights from the auction... Last year of the coupe before Nissan went with the 2+2? Kill switch on the fuel pump? I Have Just Seen A Commercial For The All New Nissan Altima Coupe. What The Hell Is That May I Ask? It Looks Like A 350z And The Interior Is Much Like The 350z And The Dash Board Has The Three Round Gauges Like Our Cars And The 350z. Is Nissan Ending The Short Lived 350z Or Bringing To Market The Upgraded More Powerful 350z That Looks Like The All New Nissan Altima Coupe Or Are They Finally Listening To Us And Getting Rid Of The 350z And Developing An All New 240z They Way TheY Should Have In The First Place. Although I Owned A 350z And I Like It A Lot I Would Have Preferred The Original Design. I Think They Are Rapidly Decompensating.

I recently took on another project helping out a fellow member Jim Derk. He was looking for someone to help get his car going since he can't find the time. He told me about his time capsule that had not been registered for about 20 years. He brought the car up to my house on the 4th of july. His 8/71 was built a month before mine#41000. After Jim left I started to take a long look at was ahead of me. There was a lot of work but a good solid virtually rust free car with only 85,000 miles original. Looking in every space I investigated the paperwork. The car had the original warranty book with the Datsun warranty card and installation instructions for the A.RA. AC and some…

i recently took my car to the smash repairs shop, they were regaurded as the best in town and after seeing a couple of their jobs i agreed. i was getting some rust cut out of the fire wall, and a new plate put in and re-sprayed. took them about 2 weeks, which i wasnt pleased with, and they charged me 550 bucks (aussie) but the job looked pretty tidy, and the colours were matched well. so i payed up. anyways got in the car started her up, and she wasnt runnin well at all so i let it warm up, still wasnt running well. checked the distributor, points and all the electrical stuff, and still running like a dog. so i limped it home. when i got home, poped the hood and decided t…

Ok, I'm thinking about getting out of the resto. This is a 73, one owner car. I bought it from his mech who had been storing it. The body is near perfect and all gaps are factory straight , I could only find 2 very small dings which are very hard to find. Suspension looks good but could be cleaned up, underside has some surface rust but no major rust or holes. The mechanic had left it sitting at his shop and coolant ate the head gasket. I pulled the motor, tore it down and started buying parts. Block is standard but could use a rebore, head looked ok. It cranked over but those damm 73 carbs are shot. The bumpers are ok but they do have a ding each. Brakes could use a re…
