I wanted to open this thread to post more pics of the car in question and have a visible area for others to see questions, comments. car is in great shape. Too good for me in good conscience to hot rod out. So I found a second shell to put together instead. Here are some pics of the inside condition of the car. Pics are the inside floor on the driver's side. All the way back to the toolbox located directly behind the driver seat. Area is solid, clean and even has the original paint.

Food for thought/discussion -- not meant as a slam on anyone!! I have read with interest where people have made the tough decision to sell their Z, and all of them state that they will get another one someday. However, in thinking about this, our 240Z's are currently over 30 years old, and will likely be over 40 years old when these folks try to replace the Z they sell today. How many good condition Z cars will be around 10 years from now? And for those left, how much will they cost? If I were thinking of selling my 240Z's, I would definitely factor in this information. For example, if today you can sell a good condition Z car for $10K, but in 10years it will cost $20…

i am trying to decide whether or not to part this out or to weld all new metal in and paint it to sell. after i get the green 76 done in the next couple of weeks, this one is next. what do you guys think? the dash is perfect, the bumpers have only a few little spots rust, but are straight as hell.(euro one on the front) it needs both quarters, one rocker, top deck plate and some work under the battery tray. and the interior needs seats and carpet. i certainly dont want to dump a ton of money in it, only to sell it for 3 or 4 g's. it will take at least 1500 just in metal, welding and paint.(iknow a good body that can paint for cheap). any input guys. thanks tony

Hey guys, Unfortunately, after going through a divorce, I do not have the space to store my baby. I am going to try to sell her. The reserve is 7k. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=020&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=300083780255&rd=1&rd=1 I dont want to do this and it makes me very sad, but when I get back on my feet I know that I will buy another one, because I do have the Z bug. :disappoin

Well, the rpm limit is all the way at 7,000rpm but gets its peak hp way down at 5,600rpm. Usually you don't see a large gap like that between the rpm limit and were peak hp is located. Usually after the peak hp, there is only a few hundred rpm left before you hit redline, and even in some cases the redline IS were you will find your peak hp at. I am curious to know if anyone can tell me or has a dyno of a stock L24 all the way to redline. I have been wondering for the past few days what the powerband looks like (both hp and torque) once you past their peak output and continue pushing near 7,000rpm. I have been told that you need not to past 6,000rpm as you already got…

Well, I went by the body shop today to check on my Z and everything was done except putting the glass back in...The car looked great, can't wait to get it back home. The shop said the glass guys should be there on Thursday, and then ready for pickup Friday..well see. I dropped it off on Jan 4th, so the time frame has worked out well, I am very impressed with the shop. The original Orange looks great, It's wonderful seeing the car as it must have looked in 1973. On a side note, while the 240 was away I got him a garage mate, a British cousin if you will, a beautiful 1971 Triumph TR6.....hey it's almost spring, I had to have a vert. Here's a pic of the TR6, and as soo…

Hi! I'm the new (since October) steward of a 240z which has three apparently small areas of (hopefully) superficial rust. I will try to attach pictures. I am wondering if there is anything I can do short of major surgery to try to arrest this rust. That is, are there any products out there that i can put on these areas to remove the rust and seal the metal? Should I go at these areas with a small wire wheel (like on a Dremel) first? Any suggestions will be appreciated! Ave PS- Also- does anyone make touch-up paint for these old fellas? (Mine is color 920- "safari gold" I think.

Anybody have any idea what month in 1971 that Nissan offred the am/fm radio rather then only the AM Radio. The reason I ask is that I have a am/fm Bowman aftermarket radio that was installed by the dealer in January 71. I am seeing on ebay that some people list for sale an original am/fm radio and state that it is from a 1971 Datsun. I wish to keep original, so if this occured late in the year, I am stuck with purchasing only the am radio. Last one went on ebay for $325, and it went to the same person that bought the last three that were for sale on ebay. Somebody is buying them that is located 30 miles north of San Diego, so I figure I know who that is. Thanks ya'll…

Hello Again. Seems as I am making up for lost time here.... Ok, the R180 I am sure has ring / pinion issues. A friend of mine and I were throwing around the posibility of attempting to rebuild one, but he has tried in the past to find new ring and pinion sets and to no avail. Anyone know of a place to purchase a new ring / pinion? Additionally, anyone here in the NW looking to sell an R180? Let me know if you are and what the ratio is if known. Thanks!

This '71 in a junkyard appears to have more than just a couple of tail lights that are in good shape. Anyone in the Albuquerque area should go and check this car out.
