I know that this is more a question at hybridz, but I don't like that place and don't even want to do a search there. Anyways, I was thinking, there are a lot of Corvette's with middle aged men in them in their midlife crisis. I hope that I never become one of these guys. I have always wanted a 280zx 2+2, but I might meet the Corvette half way. I know that an LS2 can fit in a Z car, but I want more then just an LS2. I want 105hp and 70ft.lbs more torque then an LS2. I would want an LS7 dropped under the hood. Anyone know if the LS7 would fit? Its supposed to have a different block then the LS2, so I am not sure if it is going to be too big now. If it fits, I sure …

Have a look! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-1972-Datsun-240z-new-and-used-parts-No-Reserve_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQihZ007QQitemZ170080312792QQrdZ1 $1800 for a rusty parts car that has been sitting twice for three years for and a few restoration parts I wonder how much of the "lots of" rust has eaten at the structural integrity of the car. I am sure nothing special was done to restart the car after sitting-either time. The ad does say the carbs need to be tuned again-if ZTherapy did them recently, mileage-wise, and then they were let sit for three years they probably need to be dissassembled and cleaned, not tuned. Three year old gas in new carb…

Hi Guys, I have had a couple request for more information on the Primadonna's built in the late 70's/early 80's. This is the story, from Jack Atkinson (Designer, Builder). I added the photo's to illustrate the story. There are hundreds more photo's but this should give you the idea. Because of picture restrictions on this post. This story is done in 2 parts. THE PRIMADONNA Z AN AUTO-BIOGRAPHY There has been a little debate and some misinformation over the years about the Primadonna Z. Since the dreamer of this creation does not talk much, I’ll fill anyone in who knows of its existence. Anyone who thinks they know how or why certain aspects of the design came to be…

I just wanted to let everyone know how happy I am. I recently left my job as a retail manager, where I had to work weekends. I have been in retail or reastaurants since I first started working and have never had weekends off. I will be starting later this month at Sikorsky Aircraft. It will be third shift, but I will get all holidays off plus every weekend. I will finaly have time to go to the track, car shows, and do whatever I want. This is going to be a great year.

as most of you know, following ghosn's mandate, nis-san u-sa moved it's head-quarters from so-cal to ten-nessee last year well, the thought never occurred to me until now, but i asked one of my contacts what was going to happen to the famed "dream car ga-rage" the "dream car ga-rage" was nis-san usa's museum collection of low mileage datsuns and nis-sans as well as historic race cars based in a warehouse near it's gar-dena, california headquarters click on pic for more info from datsun.org: well, my question came too late because in it's hurry to meet re-nault's deadline to pack up all their stuff for the move, somebody on top ordered all the collection to be crush…

Hi! I am a relatively new 240z owner (i got hls # 30-10862 in October 2006 and have been loving every minute since then) with a slightly more specific question about insurance. Hagarty would not insure me when I told them that I would like to be able to actually drive my car when I want to (ie: once a week or so to work and on weekends for fun, etc...). I do not anticipate putting tons of miles on it (I have diven about 1750 in the last 5 months) but would like not to be restricted to 'just to car shows' or 'just to car club meetings,' or whatever the common restrictions are with the classic car insurers. As it is right now, I just added the car onto my GEICO policy w…

Does anyone know if someone out there is making reproductions of Z Car glove box manuals and factory service manuals? Or even better a good place to find originals at fair prices? I'd sure like to get those for my 70 Z but am having a heck of a time on EBay.... Any good sources out there?

Well, I am checking out an audio system for my 240z. I am not going to get anything fancy, just some cheap speakers that will play my music. I already have a CD player that I am going to use in it, but am now checking out speakers. What I need to know is how many speakers came on the stock Z? When I was cleaning out the interior and taking everything apart, I noticed that in the rear hatch there were speakers set up, so that is 2 speakers for the rear. Now I have an interior panel kit, that on the very back of the hatch, the panel that covers up all the wires to the headlights, it looks like I can put two more speakers on that thing. Though looking up front, I did …

I was thinking about rhino lining the interior. There is a little surface rust in the interior that is a super easy fix, and the paint is poo. So I was thinking to cover that all up, and to prevent rust for hitting the interior again to just rhino line the thing if possible. Just the bottom surface, no sides or anything like that. I know that when I get a carpet kit in there, I wont see the interior metal, but just a state of mind knowing that underneath it is all pretty and clean, will really make me happy. Though I am not sure if rhino lining it would really way the car down or not. I dont mind shelling out the cash to do this, but I am not sure if it is going to a…

Will be going to look at another this coming Sunday, 81 2seater, auto, turbo, 85k miles, 2nd owner since 84. This one sounds a bit more promising, the owner has 11 cars, from a 37 Olds to a 63 Galaxy. A real car enthusiast/nut. Sounds to be in decent condition with good maintainance, leather interior still in good shape, still has original a/c charge in it and blows cold, amazing. Said he changed one side door skin and the other has minimal rust at the bottom of it. Am I allowed to still post here on an 81?, i know it's not a classic Z, just curious. E-mailed the guy with the 78 and he said he had brought the car to his Nissan dealer last year to work the bugs out of it a…

I've had two 280Z's in my lifetime. Got my first at 18 and my second at 20. I don't have pictures of my first but here are some of my second. I went in the Air Force at age 20 and when I was in tech school for a year at Lowry in Denver, I bought this yellow 78. I was coming through an intersection one evening and some highschool kids in their parents Mitsubishi Montero hit me pretty hard and pushed me into the median. I was doing 40mph and I have no idea how fast they were going. Bent the frame pretty good.I was a week from leaving Lowry so I got my insurance money and headed for Virginia. PICS of my Z were taken in 1991. Sorry about the quality of the pics. Taking pict…
