How does a man get his Datsun Z car fix and still get his kids to school? 2+2! As a previous 2 seater owner( I was single and that was >15 years ago), I am lusting over all these beautiful Zs I'm seeing and I'm trying to figure out how to get one as soon as possible. (Wife thinks I'm nuts) I currently drive a grannymobile (94 buick bought from Granny) because I drive 120 miles roundtrip each day and I hate to own anything "new" and put that many miles on it. It works but is not fun to drive. Z=fun Z=fun Aha! The answer suddenly came to me. If I buy a Datsun 280Z 2+2, I can sorta of fulfill the need AND still get my 4 and 6 year old to school. Now, a 2+2 is not my …

Hi Everyone, Well after a fairly long and grueling experience my series one car will finally be done within the next few days and I wanted to get your opinion on something. After looking at probably hundreds of Early 240z,& 260z and 280 Z cars I am toying with the idea of using the correct vinyl body side moldings on the car. I do know that this was either an aftremarket or accessory part back in the early 70s. Probably more an aftermarket item that dealers installed on many 240z cars especially. I think that those side moldings adds something to the look of the car but I just can't figure out why I seem to like the car better with them installed. What's your take on …

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread to track what I'm up to. Although I bought this car on the Fourth of July of last year, I have just begun to work on it. Up till now, because of an arm injury I have only worked on individual pieces and sub assemblies. At least this gave me the opportunity to do a lot of research, gather up the missing pieces needed and come up with a build plan which still isn't definite. I have restored dozens of cars over a period of many years and this is the first Z. This one is going to be fun. It's also the first car I've brought home that my wife actually takes an interest in. She thinks its "cute". I have made several excursions…

STARTED THIS FOR FUN Ok folk, who has any DATSUN DEALERSHIP SIGNS they like to share ! Here goes some pics of mine. Got it from Chicago and made in Kentucky. It's about ('2 by '3 1/2) feet, with three strobe or "office" lights running lengthwise on the inside. Plugs in with a normal electrical wall cord! So get 'em out of those attics, dust 'em off and lets see pics and hear about 'em ! ! ~Z~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RB WAY 2B

Hi, I am about to sign up with Hagerty, but wanted to see how some of you feel about collector car insurance. I have a 240 and a few Fiats. My daily drivers are a couple of Jeeps. I thought about covering the z with collector car insurance since it sits in the garage most of the year ( I'm in Central Oregon=cold/snow in the winter), and my current carrier, will not insure it for what the car is worth. Have you had or heard of anyone that has had a claim? Chipped window, parking lot dent or anything else?? Thanks, Bob:cheeky:

Ladies and Gents: Not really an advert, just trying to figure out if anyone is interested in some of my random early Z parts - some from #248 and some from my early '70. I have a set of brake rotors off of my early '70. I had them on and replaced them with the MML vented kit. The rotors still have plenty of meat left on them. I'm cleaning out the garage and don't need them anymore. They have the early style flange. Also, HVAC parts, gauges, a grille, fender, steering column, etc. Literally an attic full and now I have to get rid of it. Mike - wasn't sure if this falls under an ad or not. If so, sorry about that. Give me a shout. Bryan Dat240zg

Hey everyone, I just got my 1977 280z on saturday, and I'm working on what I want to do. First the bumper has got to go, so I was wondering how to fill in the gap from the grill to the air dam. and I'd like to put a different rear bumper on it. I'd like to put my cd player in it but can't find any kits to do it, so does anyone got any ideas on anything that looks great

I was wondering if anybody knows why they started counting from 0 when they started making the 2+2's. Why not include them in the 260/280Z #'s? I ask this because I have a L28 in my '71 and its VIN number is 44XXX, which doesn't compute with regular 280Z's, just the 280Z 2+2. Thanks!

It looks great in the pictures...anyone seen this car before? If I get promoted I'm planning on dropping $10-12K into either the Z I've got or maybe into one in better condition with the desired end product being not too different from this one. If I don't you can guess the rest http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-Datsun-240Z_W0QQitemZ220078976339QQihZ012QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting

I have a 1985 300ZX that I have been working on and I am selling it but don't know where to sell it. I want someone that loves these cars to have it and work on it if they choose or use the parts. Where should I go?
