Well, after a long wait, and some miscommunication, I finally got my car back to my garage. My step dad drove it home, and he was sad because he knew how much work we put into it, and it was only running on three cylindars and wouldn't drive straight. The car was so perfect before I hit the curb. So, I sadly dove into tearing her down. I'm almost done gutting the whole interior, the dash is all that's left for the most part. I took out the tail lights, the tail light panels, the license plate light, and took off the hatch. She's becoming a shell, and its tearing me up. I know this is what has to happen, and I know that thanks to David (Zs-Ondabrain) I will have another Z …

Hey guys, ive come to terms with myself that i have to sell my Z. I do not have the cash to do what i want with it and i think she deserves a good home. I posted it in the classifieds section aswell. Im looking for $800 for her. That includes all the parts needed to complete the Z and all the parts off of my 72 240z parts car. The Z has brand new fenders. Its a 5 speed l28/n42. it was a california car so the body is pretty solid, but it does have rust in the usual areas. Whether u decide to strip it down and sell the parts that are most valuable or restore it, its a great candidate for either. My email is cKy7290@yahoo.com if you would like pictures or are curiou…

Well, The transport truck called me last night at 10:30 pm to see if I wanted my car now or wait until in the morning.......of cousre I said bring it now. Here are a few pictures of how it looked this morning. I have done nothing to the car yet, but that all changes today. I want to get it back to a more original 240. Since I bought this car over the internet with only pictures I was very anxious about the condition, to my relief it was better than I expected. It's a 1973, original color, very little rust, none on frame rails. Floors are about 95% with just the passanger side needing a little attention. Car has lived in Texas and now will reside in Tennessee. …

Anyone have experience or own a car lift for their garage? I've seen a ton advertised in the classic car mags, but I am nervous and there's some good FUD out there (e.g., lift collapsing) that makes me want some references. Here are some examples: http://www.superlifts.com/ http://www.americasprideonline.com/ http://www.pantherlifts.com http://www.rhilifts.com/ It has to be a 4-post lift, and I have something like 16 feet from ground to ceiling, so I should be ok. I have a neighbor that has one, but I can't ever seem to find him home to get more data. It's critical I get this right, my E-Type will be on top and my 240Z on bottom - if something catastrophic happens I am …

I've been intrigued by the prospect of a Nissan 300Z Fairlady, I've always liked the 300Z's, but wanted something more exotic, but not a wallet killer like a Ferrari, etc. I saw a '93 Fairlady on eBay that looked cool, supposedly it was in a movie. But the seller says it can't be registered here- OK-HELP!! Is that because it's RH drive or some other reason? anyone know how to get around this? I want to be legal, but I really dig this car. Most of the other Fairlady's are high miles, and alot of money...this ones pretty cheap, I guess because of the registration problem. If you have some expertise on this, maybe you can check out the ad and let me know what you think, ther…

Saw an auction on ebay that might be of some interest to all. Guy goes by the handle of jaguardatsuns. Looks like he has (7) cars total. I asked him several questions as to what all he had as far as model years...etc...etc.. Finally got him to respond back with the following info. OK, here it is, (2) 72 models, (2) 73 models, and (3) 74 models, all the 74's are the small bumper (early) models. Really need to send a 'scout' that knows what they are looking at and take notes. I am in Western Ky, just off I-24 at US 4l. Call ahead at (270) 886-7933 and make arrangements. Glad to take the time with one of your members. Have been at the early Z's since 81, but am really a Jag …

This might be a dumb question but I am in the middle of fixing and removing a few things in the engine bay while the engine was built and am wondering about removing the carb heater water line and the whole hoses and adapters for the heater. I just thought it would eliminete alot of clutter in the bay and I don't see using the heater at all. I would of course save the important pipes but they all seem easy the replace if lost. Some are rusted pretty bad anyway. I am repainting the bay so I am sure I could find some rubber plugs for the firewall holes. I have some rust to repair by the heater intake on the firewall also. Any input or feelings about it would be nice to hear…

I finally got to see the episode, "Hard work pays off" that covered the Walter Mitty Historic Sports Car Race event back in April. I'm not sure when it was first broadcast but they're showing reruns of it a few times this week. I'm not sure about other providers but DirecTV showing it again tonight at midnight. The first minute or two of the show provides footage from the event including a drive-by of the Georgia Z Club tent where my car was parked.

Can you get a replacement for the plastic pushrod/cable that's in the 280Z power antenna? Mine broke right at the reel. I could possibly splice it with some brass tubing & GOOP. I'm still cleaning the insides, and if the motor works, I'll want to put a new cable into it, and an Up/Down switch at the radio. Also, how can you get the mast out of the housing, if I need to? There were two screws going through the housing & mast, and after removing those, it seems the mast is stuck or rusted in. I can get some photos. thx
