Hey all, I finally got a chance to tinker with my 300zx today, Replaced the timing belt and tentioner (SP). The car was last tagged in Jan 05, I have changed the oil and filter, but should i change the gas as well? It has a full tank and i really hate to throw it all away at todays prices, but i dont want to go rebuilding heads eather. Thanks for the help. Bill

I'm planning on swapping out my auto for a 5spd in my 75 280 in the end I want to Auto-X and maybe some Time trails but the car is and will be driven on the street. Although I would like to go with a turbo but for now I stay N/A This morning I'm off to the junk yard to pull the pedals and hard line for the clutch and few other thing like a bigger MC for when I go with bigger brakes. Anyway I have some leads on trannys but the other day I found this listing in some 510 parts for a dogleg tranny. Well......... THE GOOD: I found a great 73 with minimal to no rust and very original. Interior is like new, 2 owner car, perfect body, rails, floors, etc. Current owner has had it since 1979. THE BAD: (Here is what was written) "The timing chain had stretched a little and I decided it was time for a replacement. The head is off and was completely checked by a local machine shop as well as other component parts. The pistons and rods were removed and the cylinders were honed and inspected with a micrometer, no noticeable wear. OK My brother, a fairly well off close to retirement engineer, and 1957 chev owner, who talked me into buying and dragging home my 72z, just bought a 1972 Porche 911 (with a 5 speed) restoration project. My own restoration project hasn't even started yet even tho I have owned the car for about 3 years now (kids in elementary and highschool). so... what do I need to do to my z to keep pace? I don't want him to have a better car than me.

I have a coolant leak that I am trying to figure out from where it comes since several weeks. Every week I had a a quart of coolant in the radiator. No trace of leaks on the floor, no coolant in the crankase, all hoses are tight, radiator cap changed a month ago, engine dry everywhere. Today. I saw a spot of coolant on the floor and from the way the car was parked, it is on the left side and could come from the transmission. I have not looked under the car yet but is it possible that the coolant line that goes from the bottom of the radiator to the transmission could be part metal and part braided rubber hose which would explain the leak at the transmission. Does anyone have any pictures of a 240 with White interior? I have never seen one and found one for sale, however the seller does not have a computer.....(older gentleman who stated he would never have one) and therefore cannot send me any photos. He stated the interior is white with black carpet. The car is 1973, does this sound stock? Thanks for any help..... PS, what do you guys think about white?????
