Well last night I was looking closely at the inside of my gas tank and noticed "a thousand points of light". Crap, I was hoping my tank would be a simple clean and coat and that would be all. I am going to take it to a gas tank Renu place south of Indianapolis this Friday. Hopefully they won't gouge my wallet too much. I have taken pre-pictures and will take and post more pictures when I get it back. Carl

I know very little about carburators. I am reading as much as I can but I am really busy right now and leisure reading is at a minimum for another week or so. Why is my 1970 240z driving so much better with the choke up? What is it doing? L24 block with an E88 head and stock everything else as far as I know. Beyond that I know nothing about this engine. Thanks. I know that is a super newb question !

a few weeks ago i came across the mutilated shells of about 4 Z's. most had been picked over pretty well. one, however, was an early gen 300Z that had the drivetrain still intact, although i do not know the condition of said drivetrain. i was thinking though, if i could pick this shell up for, oh, say, just about nothing, it would be worth checking out. my only concern would be if there are any physical reasons why i couldn't install the 3.0L/5-speed and later diff in my '73? providing nothing in the drivetrain has experienced a catastrophic failure, it seems like a really cheap and easy way to pick up quite a bit of gain with no apparent downside. opinions?

My parents have been asking me lately what I want for Christmas since they want to get their shopping over with and I was kind of thinking about getting light covers for my car and putting them on after we get it painted. I know it's a lot of matter of opinion on styling, but I was curious what you guys thought of these? These are the ones that I'm thinking about. http://www.datsunstore.com/product_info.php/cPath/5/products_id/18

I'm just curious, being new to the z world - what is the most any of you guys have gotten out of a L28 as far as horsepower, with mods and all? I searched the forums a bit and only came across numbers for stock engines.

Hi Guys, I have a couple of questions regarding production dates. What month/year did the Datsun Z change to the inflatable spare tire? And, would a 73 gas tank fit a 74 2+2 body? Regards, Ari

Hello All For correctness sake, I would like to ask what is the correct way to route the two choke cables through the firewall and what is the subsquent correct way to orientate the associated choke cable grommet? Do the choke cables route through the firewall one on top of the other or side by side? I would also like to ask what is the difference between the 'early' and the 'late' style of choke cable grommet. Wicks book lists that he uses a 'late' style grommet which he comments as not being correct for his 1970 model year car. I have my suspicions but would like some confirmation. Thanks for any replies/pics. Joseph

I finally have gotten my car home and in the garage. I am taking the day off to get it cleaned up and inspected to see what I am getting myself into. I have been looking for a VIN decoder but can not find one. I have seen the post that break down the numbers but I am looking for more info. Can you tell what paint code or where the car was originally sold or what upgrades or options were purchased at the original sale by the VIN? My paint code sticker is gone. Here is what I have on the door jamb and engine area: VIN: HLS30-29064 Stamped 4/71 Engine L24 037006 Also, I have been looking at several car pics and havent seen a 71' 240 with the chrome pinstripe down the s…

I changed the connector that was loose because sometimes my gauge was working, sometimes not. I was twisting the wire and was coming back for a day or so and after nothing. My feeling it is a bad contact again because it doesn't work anymore. Could it be possible that the temperature sending unit itself could be the problem?

its been a loong time since i came on this board, I had to get rid of my z a long time ago and it was too painful to come here - or i was in denial (yea i can live without a z right? right?). The other night i was riding along a evo and i was like man some nice little mods and it looks really clean and it was white too - so nice you could eat off of it. All i could think about was how bad a$$ it would be to have the z of my dreams and be running along side this guy and flip open my exhaust dump valve (located right after my turbos on a rb26dett conversion) and just idle along side him. Doooooooooooooooode!!!!! where the heck did that thought come from????? - I havent …

Hey guys! I'm in the process of installing the interior of my 72 240z and I was wondering if these seats had any significance? They were already with the car when I bought it. I'm really curious about the signatures on the back rest. I checked the net and haven't found anything close to it. Can anyone tell me if the seats mean anything because I just ordered the original patterned upholstery. Thanks guys! Ez
