This is request to the Z Gurus out there, I have a 1st gen 240z in good condition, I'm considering selling it and want to see if a fair price is worth breaking my heart. Sadly while I love her she has been spending more time in my garage ...and less time on the road. Stats: vin HLS30-00387 Engine: block serial number matches the firewall, it runs well but can't say if the speedo milage is accurate, or how to evaluate if the enging has had any major work done in the past. Are there any things to look for that will say if things are in proper order? (or not proper order). I have been told the rear end is set to the original 90 degree angle to the half shafts and nee…

Some of you may remember I drove my Series I home some months ago. Very close inspection found a number of small problems that needed to be tended to and several major problems. Biggest problem was the PO had not replaced the emissions header that had a rotted out weld at the #1 exhaust port. I finally got off my %$& and ordered a new header a couple of months ago along with a complete exhaust system from MSA. Work has been getting in the way of working on the Z, but I managed to finally get the header on along with the exhaust. I should add that I removed the fuel tank as well and replaced all of the lines running too and from the vent can as well as everythin…

Like it says, anybody bought from this company? Pretty good prices especially if you are looking for brake rebuild kits, etc. I am thinking of trying them out, but not if someone has had a bad experience. Thanks, Paul

for some errands. We still are close to the 90s here in Vegas. Original A/C works better than ever with the Civic motor fan replacement. Now, it is to cold and I need to use the lower control speeds. It cost me $35.00 for the complete assembly. My A/C compressor is the rotary model(not piston type) installed below the air pump. It has never been rebuilt from new, believe it or not. I was at a stop light with a brand new 350z on my right side. The guy wanted to talk about my full original Z. We don't have power windows, so we must go and say bye bye..... It feels good to have one of these time capsule machines.....

I have a brand new set of 6 Cosworth .030 over forged pistons for sale. These will yield an 8:1 compression ratio on an otherwise stock l28. For those who don't know, Cosworth makes VERY high end, high quailty engine components, they do not however make these pistons anymore! I'm asking $800 obo for this set.

In looking at the VIN# thread I picked up my list of cars and thought this might be kind of fun. I figured I would list the S30's that I have owned so far (in the order they were owned): HLS30-455430 04/78 : Originally brown but painted pear white before I bought it. HLS30-426919 09/77 : Silver; ended up being parted out; lots of rust. HLS30-453661 03/78 : Orange; bought as a parts car but ran very strong. HLS30-427175 09/77 : Yellow; also ended up being parted out but not before a lot of time and parts were hung on the car. HLS30-431775 10/77 : Orange; very nice when I bought it and it also ended up becoming a parts car. HLS30-305523 ?/? : Ori…

My project to restore my yellow Series 1 has been derailed. Today I closed a deal on a red, two-owner '71. It was a hard call in some ways, but after looking at the car closely, and then driving it as well, I figured that there was no way I could pass by a car this special. The car is a real find. A late '71 (Series 2) 240Z that the current owner bought from the original owner about 18 months ago. The car has been garaged its entire life, and has a documented 59,500 miles on it. The current owner spent a two or three grand getting it road worthy since he got it, all new brakes, tires, tuned, cooling, etc. It is red (905), original paint in pretty nice condition. The car …

As I have stated before, I am not a mechanic by any means. Spent all my youth dreaming about cars but playing guitar instead. My first car was a 72 240Z and I want to get another one when I can get up the scratch. I have heard about a few that may be available where I live, but need to know what to look for in rust issues, and if I can find out their condition without having to do any mechanical probing. The areas I know about are the seams under the doors, battery tray, floorpans, rear wheel wells, and tops of the front fenders. Are there more, and how do I determine the actual condition of these areas? Under the doors can be determined by at least looking for bubbling o…

I am trying to clean up my engine compartment ('71 240Z). When I bought this car, there were all kinds of lines that were plugged with screws (looks like an octopus having spaghetti for dinner!) A buddy of mine came over with his '73 and all his holes were neatly plugged with pipe plugs? or bolts? So I took the lines off today and went on a search for plugs. I am not sure how to explain what holes I am plugging, but I will give it a try. Two of the nipples are the same. One was plugged when I got the car, so I do not know what it was, the other (which is the same size) feeds the "throttle closer delay diaphragm". These two holes are REAL close to 1/8" NPT (pipe th…
