Well I have had the Z for about 8 months now. I enjoy here every single day I drive her. Betty is her name and she has been good to me. She loves it when I rub on her and talk dirty shop talk to her. I love to brag about the upgrades she has and how great the shape of her body is. Keep in mind this is an east coast car and only has surface rust. She has lived in GA all her life and has been sheltered for most of it. Her first was a college professor in 1976, the second was his son, third was going to put a V8 in her but never got around to it (thank goodness). She stayed in the shop then. The forth picked her up in a house deal with the third and his wife said no more …

Is there any rule that precludes the use of flange bolts with split lockwashers? The flange bolts in question are the typw with a notched contact surface. I was not able to find JIS bolts of the needed size in a standard cap screw type so I got the flange bolts instead. I'd like to use them with lock washers to prevent the marring of the painted surfaces they will make contact with.

Well, pretty much as expected, the 1970 Yellow Z on ebay didn't meet the reserve. Did anybody physically take a look at it? It may have been worth the $8,000 the owner was looking for, but I sure wouldn't have paid that from his description and the pictures he posted. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-Datsun-240Z_W0QQitemZ160018976402QQihZ006QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Oh well, maybe he'll wise up :stupid: or sell it for less money to someone who was bidding during the auction. The silver one looks pretty nice. Wonder if it will sell? Owner says he has $25K in it. Bob

Must be that time of year again (Spring Cleaning) when the wife says the "project car" or "that piece of crap out in the garage" must go. Looks like there are some real baahgins out there! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1972-DATSUN-240-Z-PARTS-OR-RESTORE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6783QQitemZ8047794378QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-72-1972-Datsun-Z-Series-240-Z-Restore-Or-Parts_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQitemZ4620999014QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1972-DATSUN-240Z-Lots-of-Good-Parts_W0QQitemZ4614528969QQcategoryZ39405QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1972-Datsun-240Z-Good-project-or-parts-car-Last-one_W0QQitemZ8046…

Well no i still haven't found another early Z quite yet. But it has been so long since i've posted here. I've missed this community and well just decided to drop in. Well i got around finally to solo 2 events..and i've been having a blast. I just wish that i still had my old 240z, i wonder how it would have done in the smaller tight courses i've been running. I drive a 350z right now, i'm loving it, and YES the car handles well. If any of you are from the south texas area and want to run your Z, i would sure like to see it. The corpus christi area got cabiness field back now for those who know, and now i will be running PCA events as well...i hope to see some 240zs out t…

I've finally had a chance to have a go at using Adobe Premiere Pro to put together a short Z video of my car and a couple of others in Melbourne during a Z realted BBQ. I was busy on the BBQ and gave the camera to a friend. Unfortunatley he had a shaky hand and not much of an eye for composition but I managed to salvage some footage to put togther my first good try at video editing at home. Any tips welcome for the next one!??? I am hoping to do all the filming my self next time and use a nice run of winding cliff edge roads along the coast nearby. http://www.viczcar.com/v-web/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=0

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- what effect does it actually have on driveability to block off the hole at the throttle body boot and put a breather at the valve cover? I see them on a lot of engines

I may have access to a steam cleaner to clean out my engine compartment and, I suppose, the suspension and undercarriage of the car. If you've used one before, what do I need to do to prep the engine compartment and can I steam clean other areas of the car?

Based on prices I've seen in the past the BIN price of $75.00 seems pretty good. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RARE-Datsun-240Z-1969-1970-Door-Key-Blank-OEM-NOS-NICE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ40016QQihZ004QQitemZ140016924716QQrdZ1

My silver Z and my red Z (parts car) are almost identical except the red has A/C and a 4 spd tranny. I am not going to transfer the A/C into the silver car because I rarely use A/C as it is and it would be too much of a hassle to install. How rare was the A/C option on '78 280z's? What do I need to be aware of when uninstalling it from the car? Is the wiring harness only compatible with A/C cars? I'll probably end up selling it as a complete unit once I figure out which parts belong to it. Is this worth anything? You can have it cheap if you come take it out of the car yourself! ~Thanks
