Well my 240z is finally running but creates a huge cloud of smoke out of the exhaust. 5 cylinders show 160 compression and 1 cylinder varies between 80-120 depending on what kind of mood it is in. I believe the issue to be in the rings but im not sure what i should do... Should i A. try and replace just the rings and see if it clears up the issue or B. since i will be tearing apart everything to replace the rings, go ahead and do a full rebuild of the head and bottom end. I am leaning towards B since i have the money at this time and that should guarantee smooth sailing for the next 35 years. My real question is this.... (i haven’t tried calling around to engi…

Has anyone seen the Nissan concept car. It's set to compete with the new 2 seat pontiac and Miata. I think it's called urge. Looks ok a little too much on the concept but they usually tone it down by the time it's produced.

I just recently got back into Zs and noticed that they are not as big as they were a few years back when the desirable and the nice ones were grabbing big $$$. Now there seem to be plenty of them on ebay for less than $2000. Just had to ask what the folks on this board thought.

Ok, I give up. I have been searching and searching for a source for J.I.S. spec fasteners. I have come up with a few online dealers who have small selections of these bolts but none have a decent enough selection of bolts nuts, washers and staked(grade c)nuts in the grade and thread pitches I need. I guess I could try the dealer but I am thinking that I will probably pay a huge premium for what should be cheap components that I may be able to source elsewhere. If you know of a source for these parts please share the wealth and rescue me from Google land. P.S. I don't speak or read Japanese so please don't recommend a site in Japanese unless it can be navigated using Engli…

I am about to replace my water pump due to a JTR radiator change and while I'm all apart and drained I figured just replace the water pump at the same time. ( I hope for no broken bolts :dead: ) Where can I get some new bolts for this project? I know nissan will have them but I want something stainless. Could I just stop by the local Home Depot and pick up some there or should I order some. If so where should I order these from? Thanks

Greetings All I find myself in possession of another Z, this one's quite special. Its HLS30 00137 . As I am discovering, there are uniquenesses to this old girl that I'm just learning about (thanks Carl B.). Clear no-defroster glass, rubber mats, AM radio! Amazing! As I dig through it beginning to bring it back to life, I ran across something I haven't seen before. Both the hood release cable and speedo cable are currently run through (what I know on my 73) is the speedo cable hole in the firewall. What is curious, is that there appears to be no separate hole for the hood release cable as there is on my 73. The grommet on the speedo cable is there, it has a single c…

I just got a '77 280 Z. At the time of purchase it was only running on #2 & #3 cylinders. After I got it home and and started it again I pulled the wires from the other plugs and it ran the same. On #2 and #3 I changed the plug wires and still the same. Next I took a good distributor out of another one of my Z's and still ran the same. I pulled the coil wire from the cap and held it to the frame and it had a strong consistant spark. I am using a D6F4-03 distributor which was in my '75 280 and the one out of the new car is the same. Right now as the battery is being charged I am going to change the transistor ignition unit. Does anyone have any other ideas? If you woul…

Hi All, As some of you may know I purchased my Z off ebay about a week ago. I really did not get a chance to see the car before paying for it, but I did my research talked in length with the seller and I had the car checked out. Well I receieved the car today and I must say I was blown away! The car was even better than the seller had advertised! The seller said the car was rust free and after having the chance to check the car very carefully (for over and hour with my mechanic) no rust was found anywhere. We even removed the windshield wipers and the cowl and not a spec of rust I drove the car on the freeway for about 70 miles roundtrip and the everything performed be…
