Beneath the lower right photo on page 31 of Wick Humble's How to Restore Your Datsun Z-Car, the author states "Early and late fuel fillers differ in several details - later version was a definite improvement." On the following page, under the caption Fuel-Filler Top Flange, he states "Early Z-car plastic filler necks are prone to crack." Followed by "Late Zs had a two-piece filler with only the lower section made of plastic." In searching Courtesy Nissan's parts, I found the filler neck depicted in the attached photo below. Courtesy's description: "1970 - 07/1974 - Fuel Filler Hose - 240Z, 260Z". This part, however, does not appear to be two piece. So, my questio…

a piece of scrap..... Believe me, it is a true story and many members here will remember me from my previous accident going back to september 2005. The car was restored fine on the first time with all new panels. the second collision was more fender bender with no frame damage than the left side of the hood and fender being bent down with no apparent damage to the unit body. It was supposed to have a lift off of the headlight unit, a new fender, new hood and bumper. Now, the car is back with a lower left side, and because I drove the car back home yesterday from the body shop, I am told that it has been hit again by the body shop. The car went straight in my garage and…

I've been offered a 240Z repair manual in good condition. The publisher is "Clymer" (cover picture attached) and it appears to be a US publication. Has anyone get a copy out there? Is it any good (content-wise?) Thanks.

I put this up on the electrical forum but no solid help yet. I hope to work on it this weekend but I am still stumped. Without boring you with the details of why I have done this; With the actual igition switch removed, does anyone know why running power(White/Red wire leading into ignition switch) to the Black/White wire leading into the ignition switch would cause the starter to turn over? I know this wire leads to the fuel pump and it does turn the fuel pump on but why the starter? Thanks

I'm looking for a professional auto restorer in the New York metropolitan area to restore a 1977 Datsun 280Z that is not particulalrly intrinsically valuable but which has sentimental value. If anyone knows of a reputable professional restorer I'd appreciate a name and contact information. Thanks. John

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you west coast guys knew what what is happening with MSA. As many of you know already, they are cancelling all panasports except for the silver ones, and the silver ones with the machined lip. That sucks for a lot of us who were saving up for some of the colored ones (bronze, black, etc....) Then I fell in love with the konig old school mesh wheels that were black with the machined lip. Guess what! They are gone now too! They still have the konig rewinds, but I just don't like them as much as the panasports. Also, it looks like they are concentrating on more modern wheels now that, in my opinion, will look like azz on an old Z. …

Is this car really worth $6500 bucks in my opinion no, but what price range do you guys think its worth i just want to get an idea for my price range for a project car which is 200-1800 on a Z. So far the cars that I have found are either in terrible condition or already restored and mostly 80-newer Z which I definitly dont want. ( no offence to 80s lovers) I plan on stopping by east Coast Z to take a lok around does anyone know if this plce just sales parts or has some restorable project cars not requiring too much body work? just got word that my mom does not want me to buy a car outta state she thinks ill get ripped(and maybe). Hello everyone, I am trying to find information about hood hinges and if they were plated originally? I am at the point of making the decission of what to do. I have had most parts cad plated already but did not think of the hinges at the time. I have seen early 240z's and later 280z's with both paint and plating. What are yout thoughts on the subject? Thanks, Skip

Have any of you had any luck tracking down the original salesman for your car? I'm the third owner of my Z which was originally purchased at Universal City Datsun here in Los Angeles from a salesman by the name of Russ Brown on August 3 1973... I wonder if anyone else on here with their original bill of sale, might have had their car originally come from there and maybe even from that salesman... would be interesting to reunite, no? -e

I was out taking some pictures and decided to switch to black and white. I think these look cool, hide some imperfections, and remind me of what a classic car we all enjoy. Thought I'd share....

finally figured out a drivability problem i've been fighting off and on for the last couple months. turns out the electric fuel pump i installed can't pull fuel from its current mounting position. at least not adequate fuel. i was having a problem in that the engine would start idle and free rev fine but as soon as i would drive it, the thing would fall flat once accelerating into 3rd gear. i determined it was a fuel delivery issue and played with the float bowls. i noticed that if i turned the engine off immediately when the engine went flat, i could pull the plug from the bottom of the float bowl and it would be just about bone dry, even after adjusting the floats…
