So I am completely new to this platform and am pick up a 280z tomorrow morning it is a little worse for wear it has been sitting for a long time in Arizona thankfully so rust is actually pretty minimal. But long story short the previous owner doesn't have the key and it is a Automatic transmission so I was wondering if anyone knew if there is a switch by the gear changer to pop it into neutral like most cars? Also the steering wheel is probably gonna lock up right? I am just basically trying to get it on to the trailer to get it home. Sorry also pretty new to cars this old.

I've been searching various sites online for something in the 205-215 width, but there's not much to choose from. I've got some Potenza's on there now that are about 10 years old and kinda hard and slippery. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Just saw this on an eBay listed high dollar 240Z. Anybody ever heard of it? Who is Phillip A. Ray? An official looking document that says that a car has been officially registered. I wonder how much you have to pay to get "registered".

I am in the process of restoring a '70. I have gutted it and am in the process of putting it back together. My next step is to install a new dash. I have moved the dash wiring harness to the new dash along with all the gauges and I am about to plug everything back into the harness. The engine is still out of the car. I am about to plug a battery into the harness so I am very intimidated at the thought of burning something up. My ground is connected correctly. Assuming I am careful and connect the electrical components back together such as the lights, horns, etc. so that nothing is touching metal that shouldn't, I see there are 3 wires coming off the p…

Hi Guys. My name is Kent and I am a long time lurker here. I have several 240z project cars - none completed - but lots of ambition ....but that’s a story for a whole different thread probably. I started this car a few years back and, skipping to the point, I recently realized that I needed to take a step backwards in order to go forwards. I had replaced the floors and fabricated some new floor rails, but I realized that it would be nearly impossible to replace the front rails and firewall rust without stabilizing the entire chassis. Plus the rad support was repaired poorly by a previous owner at some point. Rotisserie was out of the question - way too much rust…

I made is, Orlando FL to Pikes Peak Co in my 75 280z. Left Thursday noon, drove to Phenix City Alabama (about 400 miles). Have family there so stayed the night. Left early about 2am Friday, thru Bham, on hiway 22 to NW AL, then thru a little bit of MS, and then AR. Took a north turn up thru the Ozark mountains toward MO. from Joplin the garmin took me to Wichita KS via rt 400 (2 lane, 180 miles dead of night, yikes). North from Wichita to I-70, then across to CO. The Golden era of cars? If the 1970 240z came out today, would it be the $3500 car it was then? Not talking the techno advances, I'm only discussing it through todays lens. Would such an international sensation like the 240z be only worth ($19,000) in todays money? I hardly think so. The 400z, or whatever its going to be called I would imagine is going to set you back at the very least $50,000. Maybe its not fair to not judge the tech aspect of the car, but a new car in 1970 was just that, a new car. What can you get for $19,000 today that had the inspiration the 240 had, crickets. I bought a new 280Z in 1976, I thought is was 305 blue but have recently found pix I took of my car and it looks darker than 305 so I looked up the paint colors and found Datsun also offered a 510 Sky blue. The 510 was offered in the middle of 1976 but I don't remember exactly what month I bought my Z so it could have been either color. I scanned the paper pix, the lighting wasn't terrific so I can't tell from the pic. Can anyone who has ever seen both colors in person try to describe them in a reply? Hello everyone. I'm new to this group. This is because I just purchased a VERY Unique 1976 280Z. The thing that makes it unique is that it only has 350 miles. I purchased it from the original owner. it is in Fantastic condition. Now I have to decide what to do with this amazing find. It has been in clean storage since 1976. The car still has the original PA Inspection sticker, which expired in October of 1976. I'm looking for advice on how to properly restore and honor this car.
