Several months ago i bought a non running '73 Z with '72 carbs on it. i flushed the radiator and replaced all the hoses. My gas tank was filled with brown slime so i purchased a recently wrecked Zs fuel tank for $50. I replaced all the fuel lines. Compression test (all cylinders 140-150), changed the oil, rebuilt the carbs, fiber glassed a hole under the master cylinder, installed a pertronix ignitor and coil, and finally... turned the key. The car started up real easy and was running strong when i noticed a little stream of fuel running out of the fuel inlet of one carb. I was very excited since i wasnt sure what condition the engine was in. Last night i removed…

if i actually own a Z. when i first joined this forum, i was working on my g/f z car. since then, that car got sold. i bought one and then she got another one. yes, it's a long, convoluted story. but after much mystery, i thought i'd share with you mine: http://www.photohost.org/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/20083/size/big/sort/1/cat/500 mine is the one on the trailer, and currently is in about the same shape as you can imagine. the grey one is hers which is the one i'm working on now. almost road worthy. yeehaw!

First, let me say that over the nearly 3 decades we've been married, my wife has been very tolerant of my car habit. I've learned (self-preservation) to take note of the little warning signs that indicate when I'm about to go too far. The warnings are starting to show tonight, I've got to chill out for a while. My wife and I took a short road trip late this afternoon to pick up an engine. I got word of a supposedly low miles L24 about 50 miles away that I could get for $100. It was described as very low miles (although the current owner admitted she had no way to confirm that), and complete. I envisioned (from this lady's very un-car savvy description) a complete L24 with…

hey guys, as you can tell by my name, im not really a Z guy, but i do admire their great shape and classic feel... anyways, im in NJ, and my friend is interested in either a 240 or 280, so i was wondering first of all, if anyone had one for sale....shes looking for somewhat of a project car...but one that can be driven on weekends and such.... if no one has one for sale, then what are some things to look out for...which years are best, where are problem areas, and what should she expect to pay for something in this condition? any help would be great, thanks in advance -Aaron

After trying to get a new unit from the dealer & all the local parts places & internet ; the heater control valve that operates with a vacuum diapram for the 74 to 78 with air conditioner is no longer available! Only MSA & VB have them in their cat. but backordered when I called . So I decided to look for an o-ring gasket to replace the old stock one that was leaking antifreeze all over the passenger side carpet. Found one at harware store for .30 cents but it still leaked a bit because it was the donut style & did not quite seal very well. I called around & found the right gasket just down the street from me at a diesel repair shop. Those guys gave i…

The side pieces of the early style bumpes are longer than the indentations at the rear panel of my late 260Z. The holes for the mounting points do not line up with the bolts. As I have no intention (yet) to do any bodywork I need to be creative on the possibilities. I found several pictures on the Internet displaying the rear bumper of the Datsun 510. These bumpers also have seperate sidepieces. These sidepieces are shorter than the 240Z bumper sidepieces, and the mounting bolts are also more to the rear. Is there a possibility these 510 sidepieces would fit to a 240Z centerpiece? :classic:

Hey Guys! Tell me what you guys think of my "not so new rims".My friend called me up from Japan and he said that he got me these rims that would look perfect on any Z but I wanted the Panasport look but he said these were better! If you notice the rims aren't in their best look but I am having them reconditioned. These are 3 piece sets from Speed Star Japan with a polished lip finish and weighs 555kg! If you'll notice the width difference of the Rear to Front pics. I just installed them on the car and they fit perfectly! I wanted to go 17"s but I thought they were to big for the car but thats a personal taste Old school baby. FRONT SETS: …

Hello Sacrilege to some but I now have no choice but to replace the heater hoses in my car with the later style, rubber skinned replacements as currently are available from Nissan. I want to do the whole lot for the sake of uniformity. I am having trouble finding the part number of the heater transition hose in the replacement rubber skinned type. I have seen these hoses on ebay in the past, but not recently. I have a part number of 14054-E3001 Hose - Pipe to Connector. I ordered this from Nissan here in Australia and was supplied with the early style braided type of hose. The later style, rubber skinned hoses seem to have a letter prefix to the original Nissan part numbe…

Howdy y'all...New to the site, not to the carz. Thought I'd see if anyone could identify this early z part. It's approx. 7.5" tall and 9" wide. Same material used for handbrake cover. Answer will follow should no one answer correctly.
