I have been having problems with the fuel system now for a couple of weeks. Every time the car is below ¼ of a tank it sputters and misses like it is starving for fuel. Which it is. I figured this by replacing the fuel filter with no results. I then blew out the lines with compressed air and this worked until I added gas and sloshed the rust around. So I have come to believe that the tank has so much rust it is clogging the pick up when the fuel is low. I know now that the tank has got to be redone. I was lucky and received a parts car from HLS30, Great guy, not to long ago. What fun that was getting it to my house. I will have to post that story later. 1. I pulled tha…

My engine has 110,000 miles and blew the head gasket. I'd like to remove the pistons to replace with standard rings and standard rod bearing. Can I do this while the engine block is still mounted?

Hi, Fairly new to the boards. Looking to purchase my first 240z and was hoping I could get some advise on pricing for a 1973. The one I am looking at in town is in really good shape. Almost 99% rust free with very little modifications . It has been repainted, but not the original color. Also the carbs have been switched out with earlier round tops. What is a resonable price range for something in this condition? I have researched the NADA and other pricing guides but was hoping to get some real life purchase history quotes from people on the board. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Darrel

The gentleman that runs the Opentrack racing events at Willowsprings showed me some pics of his Z for sale on Ebay, and here is his note regarding the car. He has many nice cars and builds them right, doesn't mess around with the cheap stuff. Anyone interested the car he is in the L.A. area... might be able to find it on Ebay or I could put you in contact with him. Here is his recent message when I asked him about his Z. "Craig, I bought the car for a good price and built it myself. I have the car on ebay for sale right now, it's at $5,400 with no reserve and only 2 days to go. Someone is going to get a nice car for cheap. The car has the original 6. Thanks, Kailo" …

I was consulting a wiring diagram in my haynes manual this weekend, and it has 2 different diagrams for the 240Z, a basic model and a late model. My car was made 8/72, so I'm assuming it's a '72 (my registration and vin number search also agree), so would this be a basic model, or would this be a late model? I would assume '73 and up would be late. Which is it?

my 72 zed has no modifications that i can tell.it looks all original. the dash might be after market. i only say that because it's in such great condition. even the paint looks orig. i've found nothing to make me beleive otherwise.the ? is should i do any mods now? i like the look of a air dam and spoiler, but i just can't bring myself to drill holes in her.it would be like painting a moustashe an the mona lisa. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4551243572&category=42611 is this a bre? and in canada too.

So I bought this 71 Datsun Truck 3 weeks ago and I've been driving it every day to sort it out. Yesterday I parked it in preparation to pull the engine/tranny to swap out the transmission and do a little engine compartment cleaning/painting. So I started the Z.... WOW! the shift throw is so short! Oh My God! What brakes! I nearly threw myself out the windscreen! If you forget the Z is a Sports car. Drive a non sports car with 4 wheel drums and steers like a truck for a couple of weeks, then go back to your Z!

I just picked up a 72 240 parts car, the battery tray area looks great, some surface rust but that's about it. I've already fixed mine and don't need this and I want the car out of here by the end of next week. I figured I'd ask here first if anyone was in need, otherwise I'll probably ebay it. I can cut what ever you want. Car is pretty stripped already but most of the drive train is there w/auto tranny. Car was a driver before being parted. PM me if you need any sheet metal, roof is good and the rear quarters behind the wheel wells look good. Doors, glass, hatch, hood, interior, fenders, are gone.

Isn't she beautiful. After a year and a half, my Z is back home. Now all I have to do is put her back together, that should take a couple of weeks (ha ha).
