Well, here starts my sad story. I bought a early 71 that was in rough shape and battled with it for about 4 years to keep it on the road in a halfway respectable condition. I finally put in a new four row radiator and rebuilt motor and thought that I could finally start with the bodywork when it happened. I was driving a LITTLE over the 65 mph speed limit and caught a patch of ice and flew off about a ten foot dropoff sideways. Somehow I didn't roll it and didn't take out any marker posts on the way so I thought that I pulled out ok. Shortly after I found out that the fall ripped the crossmember clean off the driverside framerail taking a big chunk with it which also caus…

Hi guys.... You may recall I was off-the-chart excited a couple of years ago when I found a 71 that had been in a storage unit for about 18 years... I dived into the interior a couple of weekends...removed the old carpet and got the floors (solid!) down to bare metal and painted them with POR15 to stop any rust from spreading. Anyway, life happened and I have had little time to even touch the car since. Never touched the rest of the car other than an oil change and to see if the engine rotated with a large wrench. It did. (The other owner simply drove it into the storage unit and parked it, so it ran fine when it was parked but it will need some rubber replacement and ho…

So I got rear ended in traffic last week, no biggie for me really, I can fix it all myself. But my insurance is trying to say the car is technically totaled, since it's over 5k in damages. But here's the rub, me n my pops decided to have the car insured at 10k after I finished restoring it 2 years ago, but the insurance company apparently didn't do that and never told us. So now they want proof saying the car is worth more than the value of the damages. I've got receipts for 12k worth of new parts from the resto, but they want resale value. I figure in the condition my car was in before the accident I should be able to get 7k easy. I was wondering what you guys have…

I really like the look of a front air dam on a Z. I think my favorite has to be the fiberglass air dam with bumper detail that MSA offers. I was just wondering which one you all thought is the most stunning.

HF has their powder coat gun on sale for $59.95, bought one today. Anyone use one of this brand before? I figure the $40 I saved will buy plenty of powder to practice with. Overall the construction of the gun and acessories look very serviceable. Going to order some powder from Eastwood tonight and hopefully by time it gets here my neighbor will have hooked me up with a free working electric oven. I'll keep everyone posted on the results. Right now I'm only planning on doing some small parts, things that will fit in a household oven, if the gun works well I plan on building a bigger oven so that larger items can be done.

Anybody out there other than "spdloader" that has used this product before?? Trying to do a side-by-side comparison with "Tank-Renu" which appears to be the better product at first glance and costs quite a bit more... (approx. $200-300 or more, depending on the condition of the fuel tank) Downloaded some "Red-Kote" general installation info/MSDS sheet in case anyone wants to check it out. webdawg1 Red-Kote.pdf Red-Kote (MSDS).pdf

I'm looking at another 240. (Not in person, just pictures so far.) This one is (apparently) an early '71 with an automatic. My question is that it has the early emblem on the C pillar - the one with the "240Z" logo. I understand that emblem was only used on the cars with the vents in the hatch as opposed to the vents under the emblem. My question? If I assume that the car does not have vents in the C pillar, then it needs them in the hatch. And the hatch on this car is not original and has no vents. So how important are the vents to the ventilation system? And is it possible that this '71 could have had the early emblems covering the vents? Should I even care? Arne Still …

I just bought a 260 AM/FM radio on ebay. ($25) I know it will not bolt into a '71 (2/71) but what do I need to do to install it in my Z? Once I have taken the faceplate off, it looks a lot like my AM radio. It does not have the antennae switch but I think I can mount that onto this radio. Anyone played with their radio lately? I need some ideas on putting this radio into my Z. I appreciate your comments.
